'There’s Lack Of Creativity', Zeeshan Ayyub Calls Out Bollywood For Remaking South Films

In recent times, Bollywood has been obsessed with bringing back hit songs of the 90s and the 2000s, remixing them, and incorporating them in the new-age movies.

Take Dus Bahane from Dus in the Tiger Shroff film or Tip Tip Barsa from Mohra used in Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi, the songs are actually working with the audiences as well.

Now, having seen some success with that, it looks like Bollywood is remaking older films as well. We're already getting a remake of Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda's comedy-drama film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff starring in what will be an action remake of the same title.

It's not just that. Bollywood is also remaking films from the South Indian film industry in order to attain more success.

While this may be a good idea to garner more eyeballs, Bollywood actor Zeeshan Ayyub is of a different opinion.

Zeeshan, who is known to act in many content-driven films and is someone who doesn't shy away from speaking on things, has revealed how the current trend is a sign of Bollywood lacking creativity.

“It is okay, though for South Indian films - I feel one can dub them and people can watch them. Rather than giving writers opportunities, and running after an already successful formula, it shows a lack of creativity, and I don’t appreciate it.

“It is fine if you have something to add to a story that has been already told. Then, I don’t think there is a problem in remaking or adaptations. But, if you are going to copy exactly frame by frame, then I don’t think it can go a long way. In the current times, when everything is dubbed, especially on the OTT platform, for example, you can watch a German show with subtitles and a Korean show with subtitles. But if one is saying something new with a story, then you should do it.” he said while speaking to News18.

Zeeshan, who has worked in films like No One Killed Jessica, Raanjhana, and Tanu Weds Manu, said that Bollywood should rather focus on newer ideas.

“If you think that there is potential in taking something forward, then you should definitely do it. Not just for business. Sometimes, you can see they name it two or three without any reason so that you get viewership. I think that isn’t a very good idea. One should be confident enough to have new concepts, write something new, and experiment and explore,” he said.

Zeeshan will be seen in an upcoming web show with Paatal Lok actor Jaideep Ahlawat.
