No matter how you bid farewell to this year, 2016 will definitely end on a good note for Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he has been ranked among the World’s 10 Most Powerful People. This list was issued by Forbes magazine and has Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump at the first and second position respectively. 

According to Forbes, “PM Modi has raised his profile as a global leader in recent years during official visits with Barack Obama and Xi Jinping. He has also emerged as a key figure in the international effort to tackle climate change, as planetary warming will deeply affect millions of his country’s rural and most vulnerable citizens.”

Forbes’ releases the list of World’s Most Powerful People every year, and the people featured in that list are those whose actions meant the most to the world. Well, who can understand Modi’s power better than the people still waiting outside ATMs, in need of cash? Modi’s demonetisation drive gave us more action that we actually wanted.

Reliance Industries’ Chairman Mukesh Ambani is on the 38th spot while Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella is in the 51st spot. The list also includes Angela Merkel in the third position, Xi Jinping in fourth position, Pope Francis in the fifth spot, and  Janet Yellen, Bill Gates, Larry Page and Mark Zuckerberg at the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th spots. French President Francois Hollande was in the 23rd position while Apple CEO Tim Cook was at the 32nd spot.

Having said that, our PM has definitely carved a niche for him as a global leader and this list only proves the same.
