Virat Kohli has sent out a heartfelt message after Dhoni’s surprise decision to step down from captaincy in the ODI and T20 format. This is what the Indian test captain tweeted this morning:

Thanks for always being the leader a youngster wants to have around him. You'll always be my captain @msdhoni Bhai ??

Dhoni and Kohli are on very good terms and both being thorough professionals would make a great team for the next two years. The World Cup in England in 2019 is supposed to be Dhoni’s last big ticket event.

The next challenge for Kohli after the recent 4-0 win over England in the test matches would be the ODI and T20 series which is just a week and a half away. That he will have a seasoned ex-captain by his side to execute a smooth transition of leadership is an added advantage only few in the cricketing world can boast of.
