Police personnel, in India, have often made headlines for all the wrong reasons and don’t really have a reputation they can boast of. Be it the recent Thane incident where police turned up at a top chain-snatcher’s wedding yet didn’t bother to arrest him, or the Bengaluru’s mass molestation on New Year’s Eve where the cops drew a lot of flak for not taking any action. The Delhi Police too aren’t perceived any differently and are known to have a notorious reputation, however that perception is changing, thanks to their genuine efforts to help people in distress.

Priyanka Kamboj, a creative designer, was stranded on the road in the middle of the night and right when she was about to lose all hope, two Delhi police officials came to her rescue. Narrating her story on Facebook, she said she had a flat tyre at around 1:30 am. When she tried seeking help from some car repair services, instead of helping her they asked for double or triple the amount. The two officials named ASI Om Prakash and ASI Daya Kishan, from Police Station Pul Prahalad Pur, spotted her and helped her change the tyre and ensured that she reached home safely. Looks like good samaritans haven’t really vanished from the world.

Had the PCR van not spotted Priyanka, she would have had a hard time reaching home. We truly appreciate the help offered by those two officials and for all the car repair services out there, sometimes one should take into consideration, things that are important than money.
