April Fool's Day is an international opportunity for people to have fun at someone else's expense. The day is filled with practical jokes and general silliness. And, the sports stars are no stranger to this phenomenon, with several taking the opportunity to play a prank on fans and their fellow teammates.

With the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) around the corner, Yuvraj Singh, too, tried to make the most of 1st April by pulling off the 'lamest prank ever' on his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate Shikhar Dhawan.

Yuvraj uploaded a video of the incident to his social media accounts on Twitter and Instagram with the caption: “What’s 1st April without a prank ... this was fun ... Wishing everyone a fun filled #AprilFoolsDay @SDhawan25 (sic)”.

The southpaw was in the gym at the Sunrisers team hotel while Dhawan was in the swimming pool. Yuvraj told Dhawan that he had received a call from the latter’s wife Ayesha Mukherjee asking for her husband to call back as it was an emergency.

Yuvraj then recorded as Dhawan rushed out of the pool and fumbled between drying himself off with a towel and searching through his bag to find his mobile phone before belatedly understanding that there was no emergency and it was all a prank.

Apart from Yuvi, New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum also pulled a fast one on his fans after joking that he would play his final season on the IPL this year before retiring from the game in order to pursue a career as a jockey starting with an apprenticeship at Vermair Racing.

Hopefully all enjoyed the laugh. No thanks to becoming a jockey. It has to be one of the most courageous sporting jobs around! Admiration.

“I decided the time’s right. At different times of your life you’ve got to seize different opportunities and obviously with my links to Vermair Racing and my cricket career phasing out I felt it was the right time to take up an apprenticeship,” McCullum had said as part of the joke.
