Bengaluru FC Is The First Indian Club To Reach The AFC Cup Final And This Is Why Itandamprsquos A Really Big Deal

Bengaluru FC became the first Indian team to reach the finals of the AFC cup after a high octane second leg clash resulted in a 4-2 win on aggregate over Johor Darul Ta'zim. It’s a historic achievement in Indian football considering Bengaluru FC was founded in 2013.

After conceding an early away goal in the game, the Blues upped the ante and put pressure in the final third. Sunil Chhetri netted a regulation training routine corner and brought back Bengaluru FC into the game. This, however, was nothing in comparison to the most scintillating moment of the game when Chhetri once again, through his sheer brilliance scored a scorcher from a fair distance. This short clip gives an idea of how good the Indian striker was on the night.

This goal by Chhetri ended all hopes of resurgence for the Malaysian giants. It was however another assist for Lyngdoh with Juan Antonio which put the final nail in the coffin. Begaluru FC demolished Johor Darul Ta'zim 4-2 on aggregate and scripted history for Indian football.

It’s one of those rare moments for the sport in India which reinvigorates the entire football community, a glimmer of hope for the ever pessimistic Indian fans. The finals will now be played on November 5th against Iraq’s Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya club in Doha.

It’ll be a difficult final for Bengaluru FC but one which might earn them a place in history. No matter the challenge, Chhetri and co. will look to give it their best shot and announce the advent of Indian football on the world stage.
