'PUBG', the battle royale game that has become a huge mobile game in India has now seen more downloads than any other game on iOS and Android. The game's popularity led to Playtopia to conduct a tournament for college students in Bangalore. The tournament was organised in partnership with the creators of the mobile version of PUBG i.e. Tencent games. The tournament saw 2.5 lakh participants from over 1,000 colleges across 30 cities.

The winning prize pool for the tournament was Rs 50 Lakh while the winning team i.e. 'The Terrifying Nightmares' from Mumbai got a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh. There was also at least 3,00 people in attendance at the tournament. Playtonia involved over 200 students through its Playtonia Ambassador Program for promoting the championships across 1000 colleges across India. This resulted in extensive response and within a span of 2 weeks.

'PUBG' has become one of the ultra-popular games in India that have been a part of the mobile gaming boom in India. eSports analytics provider Newzoo reports that 89% of all mobile game revenues come from India. India is currently the fastest-growing mobile games market in the world and is set to grow from a revenue of $1.1 billion in 2018 to $2.4 billion in 2020.
