People Want The CEO Of Twitter Banned From Twitter Because Of This Poster

Twitter is a great place for people to share news and new ideas but sometimes people get so illogical, it's actually hilarious. Case in point, some people on the website are trying to get Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter, banned from Twitter, his own site. Yep, let that sink in.

This absurdity is a result of Jack holding up a placard that said 'Smash Brahminical Patriarchy' during his visit to India. He met up with a bunch of women journalists, activists, and writers to talk about his experience in the country.

During Twitter CEO @jack's visit here, he & Twitter's Legal head @vijaya took part in a round table with some of us women journalists, activists, writers & @TwitterIndia's @amritat to discuss the Twitter experience in India. A very insightful, no-words-minced conversation ð pic.twitter.com/LqtJQEABgV

Here's the poster that has caused the controversy.

So basically, the term 'Brahminical Patriarchy' is causing the outrage but people are not understanding that it's not being anti-brahmin or even directly saying anything about brahmin people.

Feminists use the term #BrahminicalPatriarchy to talk about how #brahminical norms determine #caste & #gender relations. It is fact not violence to name how one caste through scripture has held hegemonic power for centuries. #SmashBrahminicalPatriarchy @twitterindia @jack pic.twitter.com/SYQgLvnqBx

— Dalit Diva (@dalitdiva) November 20, 2018

Nope, this is not a direct attack at brahmins but people are angry because this is apparently 'anti-brahmins' or 'anti-Hindu'.

As an Indian I am disappointed at Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey's 'Smash Brahminical Patriarchy' placard -  will Minister â¦@Ra_THOReâ© pl take action for this hate mongering against an Indian community, spreading hatred? â¦@PMOIndiaâ© â¦@rsprasadâ©  https://t.co/TMae3DbNXa

Yep, people aren't happy.

Terrorism has no religion.
Yet Patriarchy is Brahminical. #TwitterLogic

But, the best kind of hate came in the way of a movement to ban the CEO of Twitter from Twitter itself.

Ban the Twitter's Jack 'Ass' CEO https://t.co/WgKvzGCZeu

Do you even know what you're saying?

Twitter should ban it's CEO account. https://t.co/2QfjdZQTjT

— Akash Sharma (@krisakashsharma) November 20, 2018

Are you kidding me?

Will @Twitter dare ban their bigot CEO @jack? pic.twitter.com/wV0DcZJmpD

— Pankaj Bengani (@pankaj_bengani) November 20, 2018

Both I and Twitter have one thing to say -

Awkward

— Twitter (@Twitter) November 19, 2018

Okay, I'm done with the absurdity of this, this is the real question.

I'm mildly confused about one thing. Why are some people who say there is no such thing as Brahminical patriarchy upset with those who want to smash it?

If it doesn't exist, let them smash it, no. What goes of your daddy?

— Amit Varma (@amitvarma) November 20, 2018

Exactly.

Why are people outraging against twitter's campaign to smash brahminical patriarchy? It only refers to a culture where discriminatory notions of purity, pollution, and inherent hierarchy prevail. What is wrong in opposing something like that?

— Vasudha Venugopal (@vasudha_ET) November 19, 2018

You can't really reason with such people.

Right wing outrages without academic knowledge. To outrage against @Jack because he supported Smash Brahminical Patriarchy is like outraging against someone who said "end racism" or "stop rape". It is a concept, a feminist call for decades. pls read https://t.co/IjeMJnGC3j pic.twitter.com/KhDvw2VOwX

They live their life based on that 'High School Musical' song.

when women say "men are trash" men lose their shit

when dalit women say "smash brahminical patriarchy" brahmins lose their shit

when kashmiris say "azadi from india's occupation" indians lose their shit

oppressors everywhere lose their shit when the status quo is challenged

— my sou-ditious heart ð°ð±ð¼ð (@soupykaur) November 19, 2018

By trying to get Jack banned from his website?

Twitter CEO @jack held a placard that had 'Smash Brahminical Patriarchy' written on it and the Hindu Right, as usual, has reacted with self-righteous indignation. By foolishly calling it an attack on Brahmins, they are trying to get back at Twitter for banning RW hate-mongers

— Manimugdha Sharma (@quizzicalguy) November 19, 2018

Just stop.

Yes pls, stop the ignorant outrage. Brahminical patriarchy isn't about individual brahmins, but the notion of purity that oppresses women (and men). If u think this doesn't exist, ur brain is soaked in it.

P.S. defensive attacks against ppl saying this is the demo of the concept https://t.co/VcpF7OKzbv
