Fakhar Zaman Caught Swearing On The Field As Stump Mic Becomes Pakistan's Nemesis Again

Last month, the Pakistan cricket team and captain Sarfraz Ahmed found themselves in a racism row that was condemned by cricket bigwigs across the globe. During the 2nd ODI on 22nd January, the Pakistani skipper was caught on the stump mic sledging South Africa's Andile Phehlukwayo with racist taunts which eventually earned him a four-match suspension for breaching ICC's code of conduct.

Since then, a lot of emphasis has been laid on the demeanour of cricketers on the field. Many former greats have joined the great debate on the immediate need to keep a check on cricketers' on-field behaviour. But, as the Pakistan cricket team tried to put the controversy behind, another incident involving one of their star players has come to the fore.

Pakistan's dashing opener Fakhar Zaman was caught swearing on the stump mic during the fifth ODI against South Africa in Newlands. The incident occurred on the final delivery of the 12th over of Pakistan's innings when Zaman was facing Kagiso Rabada. Tackling a short of a length delivery, the Pakistani opener was deceived by the lack of pace from the South African speedster before getting struck in the ribcage.

Watching his partner getting a body blow, Babar Azam walked up to Zaman to check up on him. In his defence, Zaman was caught on the stump-mic saying: "Slow ho gaya. Yaar woh 140 hai, behen***d slow aa raha hai. (It got slow. He is 140 mate, beh*n***d it is coming slow)”.

While Fakhar went on to score a brilliant 70 in the game which was eventually won by the hosts by seven wickets, his unparliamentary language caught the attention of cricket fans who expected better from the Pakistani batting sensation than what they heard.
