Lockie Ferguson's 151-kmph Searing Yorker That Sent Shikhar Dhawan Packing Has Social Media Buzzing

In the world of cricket, there's nothing better than the batsmen producing the sweet sound of the bat after hitting the ball in the middle and the bowlers sending the stumps cart-wheeling across the ground. And, the first Twenty20 International (T20I) between India and New Zealand in Wellington produced both of those things.

The thunderous strokes of Tim Seifert had the entire Indian bowling running for cover early on. The 24-year-old, smashing a 43-ball 84, powered the hosts to a mammoth total of 219 and ensured the opposition bowlers couldn't catch a break.

If the youngster's brilliant batting display impressed the fans, Lockie Ferguson's speed and accuracy with the ball had the social media buzzing. The 27-year-old didn't get a chance to bat, but during India's run-chase, Ferguson played a key role for his side.

Even before coming into the attack, Ferguson made his presence felt through a spectacular fielding effort that cut short Rohit Sharma's stay at the crease. Covering significant ground from deep square leg, Ferguson dived forward to pull off a brilliant catch that gave the hosts an early breakthrough.

But, Ferguson's best came in the sixth over when he sent Shikhar Dhawan packing. The Indian opener was looking in ominous form and he had just smashed a boundary after slicing the ball over backward point. But, Dhawan had no answer for the next delivery. Exacting revenge, Ferguson bowled a searing 151 kmph, toe-crushing yorker that castled the stumps, much before Dhawan could react or do anything about it.

The right-arm seamer struck again in the 18th over to dismiss Bhuvneshwar Kumar and finished his spell with impressive figures of 2-22 to help his side win the match by 80 runs, but his dismissal of Dhawan was arguably the one that struck a chord with cricket fans who were left in awe of the Kiwi paceman.
