After serving a one-year ban in lieu to the infamous 2018 ball-tampering scandal, David Warner is geared up to make up for the lost time on the cricket field as he prepares himself to lead Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
While the upcoming edition of the IPL gets rolling from 23rd March, Warner and his 'Orange Army' will be seen in action on 24th March when they travel to the hallowed Eden Gardens to take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their opening match.
On the other hand, the Hyderabad fans will also get to root for their team when they lock horns with Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium in their first home game on 29th March. And, amid all the buzz, Warner has come up with a special message for Hyderabad fans.March 11, 2019
Taking to Twitter, the Hyderabad franchise shared a brief video where the Australian cricketer was seen calling out their fans to rally behind his team in the latest season of India's cash-rich T20 league. "Hi everyone, this is David Warner, I've a special message for all the Orange Army fans thank you for showing us all the love and support for all these years. Now it's our time to give back to our loyal fans," he said in the video.
But, that wasn't all. Warner also revealed that as many as 25,000 seats (for their first home game) have been made available for Hyderabad fans at just Rs 500.
The 32-year-old star batsman had led the Hyderabad-based franchise to their maiden IPL title in 2016 after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the summit clash. However, his absence last season saw Kane Williamson taking over the reins as captain.
Hyderabad was on the verge of claiming their second IPL title after securing their berth in the final. But, a returning Chennai Super Kings brigade broke their hearts following an eight-wicket triumph that saw them claiming their third IPL title. Going into the twelfth edition, the availability of Warner will play a key role in Hyderabad's title challenge this year.
