Comedy Ensues As Australian Batsman Gets Run-Out After Forgetting He Had A Runner

Whether it's the Big Bash League (BBL) or their domestic competitions, the Australian cricket has produced some of the most memorable moments in cricket in recent times. From spectacular catches to bizarre dismissals, the cricket fans continue to be treated to the never-before-seen moments on the field.

Last month, Australia's Heather Graham claimed one of the most bizarre wickets when New Zealand's Katie Perkins played a shot which ballooned off the bat of her teammate Katey Martin at the non-striker's end and went straight into the hands of the Oz bowler. But, if that wasn't bizarre enough, Australian batsman Steve O'Keefe became the latest victim of a chaotic cricket moment.

During a Sheffield Shield clash between Victoria and New South Wales, O'Keefe came out to bat with a runner on Day 2 of the match at Drummoyne Oval after tweaking his hamstring. But, unfortunately, the former New South Wales captain forgot that he had his buddy running for him wide off the pitch.

After taking guard, the 34-year-old punched the ball towards mid-on for a quick single. But, rather than staying put at the crease and allowing his runner - Nick Larkin - to sneak a single for him, O'Keefe suffered a 'brainfade' as he began sprinting down the pitch. As Jon Holland made a diving stop, both O'Keefe and his runner were at the non-striker's end.

And, finally realising his blunder, O'Keefe turned and tried to run all the way back to the striker's end before Holland's throw caught him short at the crease. While the commentators repeatedly called it a "calamity", it was arguably one of the most comical dismissals you'd see on the cricket field.

Was most likely drunk again. He's got history.
