The (virtual) world of grumpiness lost a bit of its charm today with the passing away of the internet's most catty feline 'Grumpy Cat'. 

Known to be the face of grumpiness for the online community of 'Republic of Grumpyland', the internet pet sensation became the face of countless (and most apt) memes during her lifetime.

Grumpy Cat's family took to Twitter hours ago to share the news of her passing away, and tributes have been pouring in in large numbers from the netizens, who had found the perfect stand-in and global representative to express their deepest emotions publicly.

Earlier this month, Grumpy contacted a urinary tract infection which proved to be fatal for the feline. “She passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her mommy, Tabatha,” the family wrote in the tweet.

This past week really has sucked.
