The verdict is finally here, and the Indian citizens have finally declared their leader of choice for the next five years. Late last evening, as the nation broke into a collective celebration, especially the Bharatiya Janata Party's right-wing supporters who expressed their joy by distributing sweets and breaking into a dance on the streets, losing parties wondered how to soothe the pain that bothered them so.

And when we talk about losing parties, who stands as a better example than BJP's arch rivals and opposition, Congress. With less than 100 seats to itself, the Indian National Congress has found itself at a loss even this time, much like in 2014.
However, amongst the winners from the party is one name who has been an active face of the Congress over the years. Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, who was contesting the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections from the Thiruvananthapuram constituency in Kerala. Final results show that he has won from his constituency with over 40 per cent votes ahead of BJP's Kummanam Rajasekharan who bagged just over 30 per cent votes for himself.

However, this win hasn't pleased the wordsmith politician, who admitted that he feels like a batsman who has scored a century while his team has lost. He made this comment late last afternoon when it was gradually becoming more and more obvious that PM Modi-led BJP would come back to power with majority.
As my lead nears 50,000 with 72% counted, i feel like a batsman who has scored a century while his team has lost! It's a bittersweet emotion I will take some time to reflect on. #TharoorForTvm
— Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) May 23, 2019We can totally understand that bittersweet feeling Mr. Tharoor but regardless of the bigger verdict, congratulations on the hatrick win you have scored!
