Haven't we always heard some wise man or go-getter say “follow your passion”? Throwing away those three words as easily as a pie. As if most of us haven't thought about ditching this sad-ass 9-5 cycle that our life is, or as if we don't want to go back to those easy days of long and liberating jam sessions we enjoyed so much with the band or simply never having to quit the thrill of preparing and participating in street plays.

But alas, here we are. Still stuck to our swivel chairs, constantly punching those damned keys on the keyboard or attending yet another useless meeting just for the sake of it. Somewhere amidst all this senselessness and need to “get on with life”, our passion ends up taking a backseat, or goes out of the window, to be honest.

However, while this might be true for most of us, there also exist some highly-motivated individuals out there who take their “passion” seriously and back it up with concrete actions too. UP cadre IAS officer Ravindra Kumar happens to be one such person.

Ravindra recently conquered Mount Everest for the second time, after scaling the mountain peak for the first time in 2013. However, Ravindra told the media that his conquest this time around bears special importance because he dedicated it to the cause of 'Swaccha Ganga Swaccha Bharat Everest Abhiyaan 2019'.

Ravindra admitted that his motivation behind the adventure this time lies in raising awareness amongst people regarding the quickly deteriorating state of water bodies in the country, and what it means for our country and the world at large.

Ravindra has even claimed to be the first and only IAS officer to climb Mt Everest. He also shared that through this 2019 Everest expedition he wants to urge people from the highest point of Himalayas, the source of major rivers of India, to save water at their personal level.
