Although Vijay Varma has been acting in films for quite a while, with some stellar performances under his belt like Jhunku in Bedabrata Pain's Chittagong or as Ankit in Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury's Pink, people started noticing him after his deeply-layered portrayal of Moeen in Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy.

Many people do not realise this, but Vijay is a bonafide fashionista. Read his interview with MensXP, and you'll see why.

The recent statement that he made at the red carpet for a film festival should not come as a surprise for those who know Vijay and his deep-seated love for all things retro.

The FTII alumn was spotted in a statement outfit that was very relatable for those of us who have to commute over a long distance to work, every day.

Vijay was seen in an oversized, three-button jacket, with a very basic striped shirt, and a broad tie that was knotted in a very whimsical manner. That, and the brown pants and the glittered slip-ons completed an ensemble, which can easily be considered one great recreation of the '50s American office worker aesthetic (fans of Mad Men, anyone?) albeit with a few fairly modern and contemporary touches.

Thanks to his stylist Vrinda Narang, Vijay knows what style suits him, and his strengths are, and can often be seen dressed in a manner that makes him look stellar.
Here are a few photos that just goes on to prove this.

Coming back to what the dishevelled outfit that Vijay is seen wearing here, there are many many sartorial rules being broken here. The oversized jacket, for starters, has a far shorter sleeve than what should have been ideal.

The quirky print on the tie is something that we bet none of us would ever dare to wear to the office. All in all, Vijay took a lot of risks with the outfit.

And that's exactly why this ensemble works. Rules are meant to be broken(https://www.mensxp.com/fashion/style-guide/7671-how-to-break-fashion-rules-and-still-look-stylish.html), right? And if they are blown to smithereens in a manner such as this, then we really can't complain.

A great way to make a statement, Vijay. A big thumbs up from us.
