Travel restrictions, quarantine camps and curfews, the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), once looked upon as a mere case of influenza in the Chinese city of Wuhan, has brought the world to its knees and has left governmental authorities scurrying for preventive measures.
The virus, which primarily spreads between people via respiratory droplets from coughing or sneezing, has led to more than 2,46,000 confirmed cases and over 10,000 deaths across the globe.
It's considered most contagious when people are symptomatic, COVID-19 symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
Currently with no vaccine or specific antiviral treatment available, people are forced to rely on preventive measures include handwashing, covering the mouth when coughing, maintaining distance from other people, and monitoring and self-isolation for people who suspect they are infected.
