Jaipur Polices Masakali 2.0 Punishment For Lockdown Violators Is Both Genius & Terrifying

Sure, Bollywood has been churning out bland, uninspired remixes of classic songs for quite a few years now - everything from Humma Humma to Chamma Chamma has been dug up from the grave, covered with over-the-top visuals and ridiculously lazy production.

Behind several of these abominations is music director Tanishk Bagchi, who shot to fame in 2015 for Tanu Weds Manu Returns hit track Banno, and reached the heights of infamy in 2020.

Out of the 24 tracks heâs released so far, 16 are remakes - and judging by social media reactions, people arenât too happy about it.

Fortunately for Bagchi, heâs received newfound appreciation from none other than Jaipurâs police department.

To the tune of the AR Rahman classicâs lyrics, Jaipur police made it clear that if anyone violated lockdown rules in their city, theyâd be subject to the harshest, most brutal and terrifying punishment possible - playing the Masakali remake on loop.

It seems like several people agreed as well - guess Iâm not the only one whoâd rather get an ass-whooping in the lockup instead of listening to another second of the track.

Impressive and innovative way of connecting with people.. Trust, you people are our real life heroes..

Hahahaha
Here is another Rahmaniac reaction on Masakali 2.0@tanishkbagchi stay away from ARR songs...don't ever dare to touch these classics

This is human rights violation. Nobody should be forced to listen to that shit. It is more dangerous for health than Corona.

While the song has been the recipient of brutally hilarious memes and heaps of criticism since its release, things took an even more serious turn when the original composer, AR Rahman himself fired shots at the remake.

Getting put in your place by Rahman seems tough enough, but trolls spared no effort, even going so far as to edit Bagchiâs Wikipedia page - which now reads, âIt is his aim to murder classics like Humma Humma, Dus Bahane and Masakali and whatever T-Series shoves in his face. He is best known for ruining classical Bollywood songs through low-effort and disrespectful remixes, as exemplified by Masakkali 2.0.â

Too harsh, or does Bagchi deserve it? Let us know in the comments!
