Sonam Kapoor's 'I Am Privileged & It Is My Karma' Tweet Angers People On Twitter To No End

On Sunday, actor Sonam Kapoor shared screenshots of multiple messages full of hate and abuse that she has been receiving on her Instagram account, on her Twitter handle. The 34-year-old actress disabled comments on her Instagram posts and trolls began sending her direct messages instead.

She shared screenshots of some of the hateful comments that she has received with the caption, âThis is some of the comments coming my way. All the media and all the people  whoâve encouraged this sort of behaviour and instigated it. This is on you. People talking about how one should have been kind to someone are doing worse to others.â

Besides, she also stirred up a controversy on Twitter on Father's Day by saying that her privilege of being born as Anil Kapoor's daughter was "good karma".

Today on Fatherâs Day id like to say one more thing, yes Iâm my fathers daughter and yes I am here because of him and yes Iâm privileged. Thatâs not an insult, my father has worked very hard to give me all of this. And it is my karma where Iâm born and to whom Iâm born. Iâm proud

To be his daughter.

Sonamâs reaction came in the wake of hate comments she has been receiving on social media, for the prevailing nepotism and favouritism in the industry, like several other celebrities including Salman Khan, Karan Johar and other star kids, following Sushant Singh Rajputâs sudden and tragic demise on June 14. However, people on the micro-blogging site were quick to remind the Neerja actress of how privileged she was and equally ignorant too. They gave her enough âgyaanâ on casteism as well.

Check out some of the reactions here:

Mahatma gandhi, Mother Teresa ,Florence Nightingle was also privilege people. Their father also work hard for their family and every father does this.we should speak for humanity ,otherwise it will be proved privilege people are blind.

#SonamKapoor's latest tweet is stupid and naive at best while insensitive and super-entitled at worst! Justifying own privileged life with her non-exsiting "Good Karma" is horrible and too low for any human being. And please, oh please, correct your grammar, you dropout fucks! pic.twitter.com/ba1Tj703Yb

Learn some acting skills first. Even after being so privileged , you couldn't learn https://t.co/vIFZI2do4I are such a big failure. Better that you get lost and be settled with Anand Ahuja now

Guide: The next step after acknowledging privilege is being HUMBLE + promising to help others around youâ NOT saying âHey it was my kArMAa, too bad you couldnât be born in my place BOO HOOâ

â Hiba Bég (@HibaBeg) June 21, 2020

Sorry but also isnt all birth entirely accidental ? Why shd privileges not earned on ones own account be worn like a badge. Karma is perhaps more the work we do not what our parents did ! Trust me throwing the privileged badge about is the last thing this country needs .

â Richa Lakhera (@RICHA_LAKHERA) June 21, 2020

They believe they deserve all privileges because they are high born. How is this not the worst form of casteism.. and to think star kids will find anything wrong with nepotism.

â Akshay Deodhar (@DeodharAkshay) June 21, 2020

It is high time these celebrities come out of their âsuperficialâ cocoon that blinds them from ground reality where people actually suffer to no measure because of being âless-privilegedâ. Would you still blame them for their âkarmaâ? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
