Disha Patani Talks About Getting A Lead In An Action Movie & Shares Her Fitness Mantra

When Disha Patani stepped into the industry, people went gaga over the charm that she carried. It was in Sushant Singh Rajput's MS Dhoni: The Untold Story that we got to see her for the first time in the Bollywood arena. She has, time and again, proved that she is more than just a pretty face.

She has been working hard to keep her fitness levels and want to explore more when it comes to experimenting with her roles in Bollywood. We got in touch with her recently and here are my excerpts from my interview:

You are a fashion and fitness role model for the youth and you’ve never ceased to amaze your fans with your fashion sense. Tell us a little bit about your sense of style.

I like wearing athleisure. It’s my go-to look because it’s very comfortable. I also do like wearing dresses and skirts. So I’m open to experimenting when it comes to outfits as long as it’s comfortable to wear. I prefer clothes that are plain and simple with minimalist work. Currently I love wearing Fossil watches; they have a very ‘modern - vintage’ style which defines my personal style as well

What do you consider to be the biggest fashion faux pas? And one fashion advice that you’d like to share with your followers?

For me, the biggest fashion faux pas would be anything that one isn’t comfortable wearing. Therefore, any outfit that doesn’t make me feel comfortable – Is a complete fashion no-no for me. As far as the dos are concerned – I think, we should all be open to experimenting as long as it makes us feel comfortable and confident. At the end of the day, how good we look has more to do with how good we feel. Hence, fashion that is in line with that thought is what I opt for.

Would you consider yourself naturally blessed or do you think you have to make a conscious effort to maintain your physique and fitness levels? If it’s the latter, what keeps you so determined and motivated to be fit?

I don’t think anybody is blessed with a physique and everyone has to work hard. It also depends on what kind of goal you want to achieve. Usually, if you want to gain muscles or look muscular, as girls, we are not really blessed with the muscle-building traits hence we have to work really hard to achieve that goal. The activities that I do require a lot of strength. Gymnastics, kicks, dancing, I need to be lighter on my feet. So, I have to be very strong to be able to do those things. That’s my core motivation.

Tell us a little bit about your workout routine. Have you adopted any changes in your regime post the lockdown?

I have really discovered new ways to stay fit too, without a gym. I am doing everything - from spending time with my pets, binge-watching great stuff and virtually staying connected with my family and friends. I have definitely found a balance even in this lifestyle which I feel is great. The holistic approach for overall wellbeing is a combination of physical exercises and proper diet.

Do you follow a specific diet – what all do you make sure to consume during the day?

Fitness is very important for our state of health and well-being. That can only be achieved by striking the right balance between a proper workout routine and healthy eating habits. Yes, a well-balanced diet enriched with proteins, carbs, and lots of vitamins is what I follow.

So far, Bollywood doesn’t have a lot of action-packed films with a female lead; do you see yourself being a part of an out-and-out action film?

Yes, I would love to be a part of a full out and out action film if I get an opportunity. Things are changing now and hopefully, we can also have films that can entail female leads doing proper action sequences.

We wish that Disha gets her dream role and we soon get to see her in an action movie!
