Here’s Why The Producer Of PM Modi's Biopic Filed A Complaint Against A Facebook User

The mysterious and untimely death of Sushant Singh Rajput has made people question a lot of aspects of Bollywood. Not only are people boycotting the whole industry and new releases, many celebs have also been ridiculed on social media for not speaking up for Sushant. Recently, Amit B Wadhwani, co-producer of PM Narendra Modi's biopic filed a complaint with the cyber cell after receiving threats online.

Wadhwani has alleged that a Facebook account by the name of Optimistix Optimistix had left a threatening comment on a post about the re-release of the biopic on PM Modi. The person had also allegedly accused Wadhwani of being involved in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death and made abusive comments about his daughter.

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Wadhwani said,

“I don’t even have a daughter. However, what was scarier was that he also posted a picture of me and my two-year-old son in the comments. I have never posted that picture on Facebook.”

He added,

“I have been active on social media and contributing as a thought leader in the industry and also providing updates on the latest business moves and industry trends. As co-producer of PM Narendra Modi, I have received threat comments on social media warning me of dire consequences. While trollers are common and insignificant, the nature of the threat and bringing in my family into this is disturbing for a law-abiding citizen and business leader like me. I wasn’t sure whether there is a wider nexus or pattern to it given the recent developments in the Bollywood industry. I have filed an official complaint with the cyber cell who have assured me to look into this.”

PM Narendra Modi, starring Vivek Anand Oberoi as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is one of the first movies that has re-released after theatres opened this week. The film brings to screen the journey of PM Narendra Modi — from a chaiwala at a railway station to finally becoming the leader of the world’s largest democracy.

While a lot of people voiced their disagreement with the re-release of a lot of films, this surely gives people another opportunity to catch a few of the films in theatres again, given you are willing to risk it by going to the theatres. Are you also planning to catch these films in the theatres? Or are you better off streaming them from the safe confines of your homes? Let us know in the comments below.
