Ramlilas are an integral part of Dussehra, and the festival is almost incomplete without Ramayana being enacted on stage in every nook and corner of the country. An integral part of Ramlilas though is humour and no matter who is enacting the epic on stage, satire and jokes can never be given a miss.

Though the pandemic has reshaped our lives in more ways than we could have imagined, it doesn’t seem to have affected the essence of Ramlilas. A new video that’s doing the rounds of the internet shows Raavan dancing to a punjabi song during a Ramleela somewhere in Punjab. Shared on Twitter by journalist Man Aman Singh Chhina, the video has already amassed close to a thousand retweets and over 2.9k heart reacts.

The video shows a man dressed up in the character of Raavan on stage, putting his gun aside to dance to a Punjabi song as the audience cheers him on. His accompanying characters can also be seen vibing to the beat on stage. And even though we have seen numerous funny videos of Ramlila over the years, this one’s really special because it comes in at a time when festive celebrations across the country have been thwarted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s good to have a laugh during such times.
