A College Is Letting Struggling Students Pay Their Fees With Coconuts & It's Nuts

No one needs another reminder of how awful this year has been but it's truly one of the worst years everyone has lived through and the only comforting thing is that everyone is in it together.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic taking over the entire year, people have been struggling because of literally everything being shut down for months all over the world. The economic slowdown has affected almost everyone and so many people are struggling with money.

In order to accommodate their students, a college in Bali has shown more compassion that anyone could have ever hoped for and it's truly one of the most wholesome things ever.

To help out students who might be struggling financially this year, Venus One Tourism Academy in Tegalalang, Bali is being extremely chill about tuition fees and is letting the students pay it with coconuts. It's nuts, right?

While talking to local media outlet Bali Puspa News, Wayan Pasek Adi Putra, an official at the institute, said, "At first we began an instalment program to pay their tuition fees, but now we’ve become even more flexible. Because of this COVID pandemic, we have adopted a flexible policy. We produce virgin coconut oil, so students can pay their tuition by bringing in coconut."

You bring coconuts, they make oil. Talk about a win-win situation.

Moreover, along with coconuts, the students can also bring in other natural products like moringa leaves and gotukola leaves that are used to produce products such as herbal soap.Β

And if this institute hadn't already proved to be one of the best in the world, apparently, students can also resell their own products to develop entrepreneurial skills.

He added, "We have to educate them to optimize the natural resources in their surroundings. So when the pandemic is over, they would be more than just a common worker."

If more educational institutes were as understanding and focused on the students instead of money, the world would be a much, much better place.
