4 Times Bollywood Tried To Compare Itself To 'Avengers' & Gave Everyone Second-Hand Embarrassment

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the biggest and the grandest movie franchise we've ever seen. So many movies, so many characters, so much action, it's what every superhero fan could ever ask for.

And, since it's so huge - I mean if you look at the top highest-grossing movies of all time, it's very well dominated by Marvel - everyone is always trying to get in on the action and it also includes Bollywood, unfortunately.

Sometimes, Bollywood actors and directors decide to compare themselves to the Avengers and it's just super cringey for everyone. It gives so much second-hand embarrassment to people, that it's hard to take them seriously.

So, here are a few instances where Bollywood had no business talking about Marvel but they did anyway:

1. Comedy Avengers Universe with Housefull 5

The most recent atrocity first.

We really have moved past the need for any more Housefull movies, but they keep making them.Β

The franchise is problematic on its own, they really did not need to drag MCU into this.

Basically, Housefull 5 was announced last week with Akshay Kumar sharing the news on his Instagram by posting a picture of the Housefull 4 cast along with a few new additions.

The problem arose when a source reportedly said that the director Sajid Nadiadwala and Akshay Kumar are working towards a Comedy Avengers Universe. Yep.

The source said, "It will be a huge ensemble cast since all the characters are coming back together for the 5th instalment. Sajid along with his team is working on the script and plan to shoot the movie in Imax format. The last films shot in Bollywood with such a format are Baahubali and Padmavaat. With this Sajid & Akshay are making their own Comedy Avenger Universe."

Haven't we suffered enough this year?

2. Singham Cinematic Universe

Rohit Shetty is obviously THE guy who makes cop movies in Bollywood and has made three box office hits and 100 crore club movies with Singham, Singham Returns, and Simmba.

He wants to tie all of the movies together in one Cinematic Universe and he has already started that process with Akshay Kumar's cameo in Simmba as a way to introduce his character Veer Sooryavanshi for his own upcoming movie.

He said, "Whatever happens in America, Hollywood, happens here ten years down the line. That's been the theory always. When I was watching the Avengers series I got an idea that why don't we create a universe. Obviously, we don't have the kind of budget to make many superhero movies year after year. Then I thought to make a cop universe from Simmba onwards.”

He added, β€œI was a bit scared before the release of Simmba because this was happening for the first time in our country. I knew that youngsters and kids will know, because they have seen Avengers, but our mature audience hasn't seen that. I had doubts merging two worlds, but it worked big time."

Well, good for him trying something new in the country, but doesn't stop us from cringing by bringing in Marvel.

3. Desi Tony Stark aka Chunkey Pandey View this post on Instagram

Unfortunately, most of the times, whenever Ananya Pandey does or says, she always ends up getting trolled and when she compared her father Chunkey Pandey to Tony Stark, she wasn't doing herself any favours.

Well, this one wasn't as bad since Chunkey Pandey himself poked fun at that in Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Lives.

4. Aditya Seal upset with people who love Marvel but find SOTY 2 unrealistic

Comparing Marvel to Student of the Year is the worst sin anyone can ever commit and SOTY 2 star Aditya Seal learned that the hard way.

After the release of SOTY 2, Aditya talked about the criticism the movie received for showing an unrealistic school and college life. He said, "That is exactly the section of society who will watch 'Avengers' and love it and believe that superheroes exist, but they will give us flak for it."

No one believes superheroes exist for real, but schools do. His statement made no sense, much like the entirety of Student of the Year 2.
