Test series between India and Australia have always been extremely popular. Thanks to the prestigious history shared between the two cricketing titans, every cricket fan in the world loves to watch the two sides lock horns and revisit some of the old classic moments from the rivalry.

During Day 2 of the first Test in Adelaide, commentators Sanjay Manjrekar and Glenn McGrath managed to dig up one such controversial blast from the past in which the Australian bowler trapped Indian master blaster Sachin Tendulkar in what could only be described as the weirdest ‘leg before wicket’ dismissal.

In 1999, India were chasing 396 in the second innings and Tendulkar was given out for a duck by umpire Daryl Harper. It was a ‘leg before wicket’ appeal by McGrath after the ball hit Tendulkar’s shoulder who was ducking to avoid an expected bouncer by the Australian pacer.

McGrath confessed that the delivery was intended to be a bouncer but the pitch completely absorbed the impact and took away the flight he wanted to put in that delivery.

Having said that, McGrath also said that the ball would have hit the stumps had Sachin not ducked and put his shoulder in the way.

The Aussie legend also said that Tendulkar continues to stick to his belief that it was a bouncer and could have easily cleared the bails.
