Sony Removes 'Cyberpunk 2077' From PS Store Because Of Bugs & Is Refunding Buyers

In an unprecedented move, Sony (SIE) has removed Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store until further notice. The game has been suffering from a myriad of bugs, glitches and performance issues on the PlayStation 4 which prompted the company to remove the game from selling on its platform. The company said that it “strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction” and will offer refunds to anyone who bought the game digitally from the store.

The company's full statement reads:

"SIE strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, therefore we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store. SIE will also be removing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice.”

"Once we have confirmed that you purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store, we will begin processing your refund. Please note that completion of the refund may vary based on your payment method and financial institution.”

The move comes after CD Projekt Red admitted and apologised for not paying “enough attention.” The Polish Studio is now hard at work to fix the game and aims to make it “playable [and] stable, without glitches and crashes.” The company is looking to issue a new patch before Christmas and two other fixes in January and February. The company is seeking to rebuild its reputation and has quoted saying “money is no object” to fix its reputation after the debacle.

Sony usually does not offer refunds for games easily but the platform holder has launched a dedicated page for refunds for Cyberpunk 2077. Players can submit for their refund here. Users who already own a physical copy or do not wish to request a refund can continue to play the game on the PS5, PS4 Pro and PS4. However, the game is still marred with bugs and glitches that are not ideal for a AAA game experience. You will, however, receive all future patches as promised by CD Projekt Red.
