Overcoming all odds, the visiting side showed great resilience to keep a certain defeat and the rampant Australian bowling attack at bay at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

With 97 overs to survive on the final day and eight wickets in hand, India, who had a bruised and battered batting line-up sans their original captain and best batsman, produced one of the most dramatic displays of patient batting and exemplary fighting spirit to pull off a draw that no one saw coming.
