The wave of renaming places in India is not going to end soon. Now, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders want to change the names of some places in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti and the Party’s Lok Sabha MP Pragya Singh Thakur demanded that certain places in and around Bhopal be renamed including Halali Dam and Islam Nagar.

Uma Bharti expressed that renaming Halali Dam which is a popular picnic spot located on the outskirts of Bhopal is necessary. According to her, the current name conveys a sense of ‘betrayal and hatred’.
Pragya Thakur, the BJP Lok Sabha member from Bhopal supported Uma Bharti’s demands and also suggested changing names of some other places including Lal Ghati and Islam Nagar, in the Madhya Pradesh capital.
Uma Bharti had written a letter to Berasia BJP MLA Vishnu Khatri saying that the name ‘Halali’ is an “expression of betrayal, deception, and inhumanity in historical perspective.”

Also, the dam falls under the Berasia Assembly segment of the Bhopal district.
Earlier, Yogi Adityanath has been famous for starting the ‘renaming wave’. First, he renamed Allahabad and then Faizabad and this continues. The people on Twitter were extremely agitated when the news of changing names was announced and also said that this was the only source of entertainment for Yogi Adityanath.

Not only this, Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani decided on changing the name of dragon fruit to ‘Kamalam’. They did this because dragon fruit resembles the lotus flower. Now, this also sparked hilarious memes on Twitter and people had a good time enjoying the funny tweet. However, out of all the issues that we are facing at the moment, senior BJP members are only focusing on changing names.
