The 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy is being considered one of the greatest Test series in the history of international cricket and at the helm of the all things was the Indian skipper Ajinkya Rahane.
Ever since assuming the responsibilities of a captain after Virat Kohli left for home following the Adelaide Test, Rahane’s team was plagued with injuries and it was quickly becoming difficult to even put together a decent team for the clashes against a loaded Australian side and that too on their own turf.

By the end of the series, Rahane’s captaincy not only guided his team to a series victory but also got him acknowledged all over the world as a legitimate leader.
Rahane credits the ‘Vedanta Philosophy’ for the way he worked under all the pressure which led to him achieving timeless greatness in the most prestigious and gruelling format of the game.
“I think it comes naturally to me. I have been learning about Vedanta philosophy, and I have been practicing it even during the lockdown… I have been following the philosophy for the past six-seven years,” Rahane was quoted by Cricket Addictor.
But What Exactly Is The ‘Vedanta Philosophy’?
The Vedanta Society of Southern California (https://vedanta.org/what-is-vedanta/) describes ‘Vedanta’ as “a combination of two words: “Veda” which means “knowledge” and “anta” which means “the end of” or “the goal of.” In this context the goal of knowledge isn’t intellectual—the limited knowledge we acquire by reading books. “Knowledge” here means the knowledge of God as well as the knowledge of our own divine nature. Vedanta, then, is the search for Self-knowledge as well as the search for God.”
The philosophy affirms:
The oneness of existence,The divinity of the soul, andThe harmony of all religions.“It has been helping me a lot in life when it comes to coping with success and failure, to understand what is important in life and what matters to you. It has been working very well for me,” Rahane said.
“The philosophy is about life, it is not related to cricket… How to deal with pressure situations, how to deal with success and failure, if you are failing, how you can be calm and positive, and what is the bigger picture,” he added.
