It was last Diwali that Akshay Kumar gave a special gift to his fans as he announced his new project, titled Ram Setu. “This Deepawali, let us endeavor to keep alive the ideals of Ram in the consciousness of all Bharatiyas by building a bridge (setu) that will connect generations to come. Taking this mammoth task ahead, here is our humble attempt—#RamSetu. Wishing you & yours a very Happy Deepawali," he tweeted with the posters.

People were happy to see this avatar of Akshay Kumar where he is seen as a traveller in a shirt and cargo trousers with a small bag hanging around his shoulder. It was later revealed that the shooting for the same will happen in Ayodhya. In fact, Kumar even had a meeting with Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath about the plan.
Akshay sought permission to shoot Ram Setu at locations including Ayodhya where the construction of the Ram Temple is underway. Happy with the film's story, the CM is believed to have given his nod to the team to shoot the film in Ayodhya. A source close to the development told Mumbai Mirror, "Set in today's India, it's the journey of the protagonist to discover if the Ram Setu is a myth or reality. Since Akshay and his director, Abhishek Sharma, want to present an accurate depiction, they want to shoot in real locations in the state, including Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram. They want to kick off the film by mid-2021 in UP."
Not many details were divulged back then but now, it has been revealed that Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha have been roped in as the female leads in the movie.
In one more recent development, as reported by Miss Malini, Jacqueline might play the role of Sita in the movie. Yes, you read it right.
