Rohit Sharma’s ‘4-Over Miracle’ Restarts Captaincy Debate But Kohli Fans Don’t See A Reason

Even though the fourth of the five T20Is between India and England was won by the hosts, things turned out to be rather radical for the skipper Virat Kohli, who first got dismissed for a solitary run and then got injured and had to sit out during the final, nail-biting moments of the match.

Just when fans of the Men in Blue had started to relax about Kohli’s form, considering his back-to-back 50-plus innings in the two T20Is, the captain ended up getting dismissed for practically nothing in the penultimate match, only to see the squad get carried by Suryakumar Yadav and the middle order.

However, it was Kohli’s injury that gave way to deputy in-command, Rohit Sharma taking the lead in the final four overs during India’s fielding and thanks to his brilliance of carefully delegated bowling quotes, his squad managed to avoid losing the series and lived to fight another day.

The team management in the death overs has once again sparked the debate about who among Kohli and Sharma is the better fit to lead the squad in the limited-overs game, especially, T20I and whether split captaincy should be brought to India as well or not.

Good leadership from 5-time IPL winning skipper.

plis people started the whole make rohit sharma the t20 captain shit
i am done with that
i mean why bro
have you even seen virat kohli's t20 captaincy record?
just because rohit sharma handled the situation very well in the last 4 overs it doesn't mean you'll just hand over the-

One of the biggest reasons behind Sharma’s late-game captaincy is getting so much recognition is because he asked Shardul Thakur to take up the 17th over which ended up deciding the fate of the match.

Thakur first dismissed Ben Stokes on the very first delivery following by skipper Eoin Morgan on the consecutive ball, leaving just the lower order batsmen under a lot of pressure.

However, fans of Virat Kohli believe that was exactly what the main skipper would have done if he wasn’t injured and that there was nothing extraordinary about it.

virat kohli left 2 overs of shardul for death which were just used by rohit nothing extraordinary.

So, Kohli promoted SKY up the order, gave Pandya the new ball, picked Chahar and gave gim tough overs, and kept Thakur and Bhuvi the four death overs. So, who won the game as a captain for India? Twitter said Rohit Sharma. Logic says, it was a team effort.

Some Rohit Sharma fans are genuinely brainless. He's a good captain yes, but saying that we win in the last four overs was because Rohit was captain. That is such a bs reason. Kohli was literally giving advice while sitting out. And you have to give credit to shardul thakur man.

Update On Virat Kohli's Injury

Kohli had to get out of the field as soon as he got injured but the skipper addressed the issue after the match.

“I ran for a ball and threw it and I just aggravated my upper quad a little bit and I didn’t want to make it into a niggle or an injury. Nothing serious. I took the smart decision of going out. I should be fine for the game in a day and a half. Better than sprinting for five or six overs because we have an important game coming up,” Kohli said.
