Baba Ka Dhaba became an overnight success and shot to fame after a heartbreaking video of them went viral on social media last year. 

However, the couple seems to be back to square one after their restaurant venture, apparently, tanked. 

And now, they are once again desperately waiting for their customers in their roadside eatery in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar.

Last year, a video of Kanta Prasad and his wife Badaami Devi struggling to make ends meet through their roadside eatery amid lockdown went viral. 

The video by the YouTuber tugged at everyone's heartstrings and soon enough, people flooded the eatery and there were huge lines outside.

People came to eat food, click selfies and donate money to support the customer. 

Zomato, also listed the eatery on their app and soon after, Prasad opened a restaurant and also bought a smartphone for himself along with getting rid of all his debts.

However, the restaurant didn’t make money for them either and they are back to their roadside eatery again. 

Prasad told HT, “The daily footfalls at our Dhaba have declined because of the ongoing Covid lockdown, and our daily sales have come down from 3,500 before the lockdown to 1,000 now. The income is not sufficient for our family of eight.”

He also said, “The average monthly sales never crossed 40,000. I had to bear all the losses. In hindsight, I feel we were wrongly advised to open a new restaurant. Of the total investment of 5 lakh, we managed to recover only 36,000 from the sale of chairs, utensils, and cooking machines, after the restaurant shuts down."

Gaurav Wasan was the YouTuber who made their video and highlighted the poor condition of the couple. But, Prasad had later filed a cheating complaint against Gaurav Wasan saying that he allegedly didn’t give him all the donations.
