Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar, who was arrested in the murder case of fellow compatriot Sagar Rana last month has demanded an extravagent diet which includes a protein shake, along with exercise bands as he continues to prepare himself for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

As reported by NDTV, Kumar feels that the jail’s diet, which consists of five rotis, two vegetables, dal and rice, which the inmates get twice a day, is not good enough for the athlete and that he wishes to add nutritional supplements like Omega 3 capsules, pre-workout supplements and multivitamin pills among other things to his daily food intake while locked up.

These demands made by the two-time Olympic medallist shows a stark contrast to how Kumar behaved back when he was arrested by the Delhi Police after absconding and dodging them for a couple of weeks.

Back then, Kumar was completely silent, regretful of his actions, sobbing, sleepless and refused to eat anything at all.

However, this isn’t the first time Kumar has demanded special arrangements from the law enforcement. On 26th May, the day he turned 38, reports had emerged suggesting that he wanted a “wrestler’s diet” but was straightaway refused. 

"The one who murdered my son does not deserve to be called a mentor. All the medals won by Sushil Kumar should be taken from him. We believe that police will investigate properly but Sushil will try to influence it by using his political links," Rana's mother argued according to India Today.

"We are hoping for justice. Where did he go when he was absconding, who gave him shelter, and most importantly the gangsters with whom he is connected to. He should be hanged so that people learn a lesson and think before killing his own pupil," said Rana’s father.
