‘Maradona Was Killed By His Own Doctors’, Says Lawyer Of Football Legend's Nurse

The world lost a footballing god back in November of 2020 with Argentina's El Barrilete Cosmico or the Cosmic Kite, Diego Maradona, breathing his last after suffering a heart attack.

Maradona, who had just turned 60 less than a month back on October 30, had undergone brain surgery for a blood clot just weeks before his death.

However, following his death, a board of experts looking into Maradona's death, found that the footballing great had received inadequate care and had been abandoned to his fate for a "prolonged, agonizing period".

Soon after, an investigation was launched and seven people are currently being questioned for manslaughter with Maradona's nurse Dahiana Gisela Madrid also being one of them.

However, according to Madrid's lawyer, Rodolfo Baque, Maradona was killed by his own doctors through negligence.

"They killed Diego," said Baque, while speaking to reporters on Wednesday (June 16).

The attorney explained how while Maradona was being treated for the heart problem, he had been on psychiatric medication that sped up his heart rate.

"Also, Maradona fell while in the hospital, and when Madrid asked to have a CAT scan done on him, an aide to Maradona refused, arguing that if the press found out it would look bad," said Baque.

The attorney, who was speaking after the over eight-hour-long interrogation of Madrid, said the doctors ignored the daunting signs of Maradona's potential death.

"In the end, there were many warning signs that Maradona was going to die, give or take a day. And none of the doctors did anything to prevent it," said Baque.

Madrid, the 36-year-old daytime nurse of the footballing great was one of the last people to see him alive.

The former Barcelona, Napoli, and Boca Juniors superstar had been suffering from liver, kidney, and cardiovascular disorders when he died.

Last month, a panel of 20 medical experts who were convened by Argentina's public prosecutor, had said that Maradona's treatment had been filled with "deficiencies and irregularities" and his medical team had left his survival "to fate."
