Looking presentable on a first date is non-negotiable and most men know this by now (thank goodness). While guys would put on their best shirt which brings out their eyes and spritz just enough perfume to smell good, there are things they still miss out on.

Here’s the thing. If you are going out with a girl for the first time, there are things about you she notices. Once she is your girlfriend, she would be used to your messed up hair and even laugh off your gross habits, but a potential partner is bound to judge you on the basis of how you carry yourself the first time you meet someone.

While you talk mindlessly, thinking she is staring at your cute face, she is actually observing. She is noticing every minute detail about you so she knows that you are not just presentable but hygienic and take care of yourself.

Here are some things that every woman subconsciously notices in a man on the first date.  

1. If Your Nails Are Of Adequate Length

Some men would have clean nails but they would either be unacceptably long, or sociopathically short or worse, chipped off raw with their teeth. Major man-child alert! A man’s nails should be trimmed straight (don’t shape them round or pointed while clipping) and should be no longer or shorter than the width of a dime. 

2. If Your Lips Are Kissable

In case you didn’t get the memo, lips are the most seductive and sensual thing about anyone. And, when you are on a date with a woman, you’ll catch her glancing at your lips while you’re talking or smiling. See, those are the lips she’d be kissing (if things go well) and it’s important for her that your lips shouldn’t be chapped, peeling or dry, only smooth and soft. That’s the rule. 

3. Teeth & Oral Hygiene

Doesn’t matter if they’re a bit crooked (it’s actually cute), but if they are showing your last night’s dinner or if your mouth is smelling like a fish market, rest assured you are not getting a second date. Oral hygiene is super essential in a guy. The kissing rule applies here as well, just remember that.  

4. The Way You Style Your Hair

Is it Ross-level gelled up? Is it oily? Is that dandruff? Yeah, women meticulously observe their date’s hair and while some may let a bad hair day go, others wouldn’t. A neatly done hairdo means you actually care about the date and put in effort to look your best, while messy or unkempt hair would make her think you’ve given up on life.    

5. The Way You Accessorise

I’ll let you in on a secret. Your OOTD says a lot about you but so do your accessories. While a classy watch and nice sneakers or shoes are enough to complete your look, wearing too many bracelets or a chunky chain around your neck can totally put her off. Find the perfect balance and don’t let blinding accessories take away her attention from your charm.
