5 Bollywood Film Characters Who Accurately Depicted A Commitment Phobic Person
Bollywood’s machinery of churning out romantic movies is solely responsible for why and how young people dream of happy endings, grand proposals and believe in fairytales. With a major paradigm shift in how the youth consumes cinema, movie makers have cashed in on showing more realistic characters who are a lot like an average Joe and even have the same problems in life. Talking about relationships hang ups, commitment phobia is a real thing and here are 5 characters that actually accurately depict how it feels like:
While this movie is known for the way it spells friendship goals, one of the main characteristics of the lead character Akash was his lack of faith in true love. He truly believes that he can never fall in love and flinging his way through life is his plan. He is the first one to mock his own best friends Sid and Sameer for falling in love and shamelessly even proclaims “aaj Pooja, kal koi ddoja” when Sameer expresses how he feels for the girl he met.
2. Aaliya In Break Ke BaadOne might relate commitment phobia with men but thankfully there are enough female characters who played the part well. Aaliya moves to Australia for better career prospects and even though the love of her life chases her across continents and tries to make her believe that they are end game, she chooses to break up after getting cold feet.
3. Gayatri in Shuddh Desi RomanceThis is another movie which showed the concept of live-in relationships. Gayatri doesn’t believe in being tied down in life and even runs away from her own wedding. She is happy living with a guy without being committed.
4. Jai In Love Aaj KalThe movie which showed that having a break up party is a ‘normal’ thing to do. Jai is clearly smitten with his girlfriend Meera but is also sure that he doesn’t want to work it out over a long distance relationship and would rather stay happy being single.
5. Raj In Bachna Ae HaseenoThis character not just breaks one heart but does it twice after ‘almost’ marrying his second girlfriend. Raj is the quintessential guy who wishes to enjoy all the perks of being in love but cannot take the responsibility of being committed to that human.
