Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor is known to be a mass favourite when it comes to starting new trends, especially with words. This time, though, he started a whole meme fest without even realising. 

The politician recently celebrated the festival of Onam, and while we all love the festivities, Tharoor's extreme level of zeal and enthusiasm was something that caught everyone's attention.

If you are wondering what happened exactly, then let us tell you. Tharoor was seen smashing a coconut as a part of a ritual. He added that this was done as a prayer to 'the Naga gods worshipped by all Nairs’. He was seen wearing a bright yellow kurta with his white mundu and a big coconut in his hand. However, the way he smashed it soon became a viral meme. This picture was clicked at Elevanchery Bhagavathy Kshetram from Kerala, added Tharoor.

Immediately after this, people on Twitter decided to come up with hilarious takes on the coconut smashing picture.  

From being a 'dhobi waala' to being a part of the WWE, Tharoor's mind-blowing transformation in these memes left us in splits.

Another meme that caught his eye was one in which he is on a cricket pitch. The heavily photoshopped image was super funny, according to the politician. 

One user also appreciated Tharoor's humour and taking such memes in his stride. He said, "I love the way how he takes all funny memes/comments, love his nature. Other politicians can learn from him.”
