‘Shirtless Virat Kohli Can Go To Oxford Street’ Sourav Ganguly ‘Warns’ Amitabh Bachchan On KBC

Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) special episode, Shandaar Shukravar had two of the biggest names in the history of Indian cricket - Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag grace the audience and television viewers with their presence as the host, Amitabh Bachchan welcomed them on screen and greeted them.

During their time on the show, Ganguly’s famous t-shirt toss moment from the 2002 NatWest cup final against England, was discussed with Sr. Bachchan, who tried to pull the BCCI President’s leg by asking him about the specificities of the incident.

Reliving the moment, Ganguly spoke about the time when his daughter, Sana, watched the footage of her father’s enthusiastic celebration after his batsmen Mohammed Kaif and Zaheer Khan took the last two runs to win the nail-biter of a final match.

“My daughter once watched it and asked me ‘why did I do it?’. I thought I have scored over 20,000 runs and so many cover drives, but everybody keeps talking about the Lord’s balcony celebration,” The Prince of Kolkata said.

In his typical way of wooing his guests, Amitabh Bachchan would then go on to praise the former Indian skipper unselfishly while complimenting his skills as a batsman and a leader and ensuring him of the fact that the entire nation was proud of all the achievements he had earned over the years.

To direct the attention away from himself, Ganguly quickly and wittily started talking about the current captain of Team India - Virat Kohli, and how he might outdo the Lord’s t-shirt-toss moment if challenged. “Don’t challenge Virat Kohli. He can even go to Oxford Street without a shirt,” Dada added.

As the video of the incident continued to play on the screens, Bachchan would eventually ask Ganguly what was it that he was saying as he swung his India jersey aggressively while standing in the balcony of London’s Lord’s cricket ground.

Completely aware of what he had said and how it would not be appropriate to repeat his words on a family-friendly show like KBC, Ganguly coyly said: “I will tell you that after the show”. But, the Big B’s lip-reading skills were good enough to know the answer to his own question and he steered away from the topic with a sheepish smile.
