Sci-Fi Movie 'Dune' Gets 8-Minute-Long Standing Ovation At Venice Film Festival

After almost a two-year-long battle with Coronavirus, theatres across the world are slowly rising up back to their feet, enabling people to visit cinema halls and watch movies once again in a safe manner.

Moving past that, the season of the release of the most exciting movies is upon us - some that we've been waiting for a really, really long time.

One of the movies belonging to that list is the upcoming Sci-fi/adventure film Dune starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, and Josh Brolin.

The Denis Villeneuve-directorial had already been on the watchlist for millions of fans worldwide but the latest scoop of news regarding it should make that number grow significantly further.

Dune got an amazing eight-minute long standing ovation on its official world premiere at the prestigious Venice Film Festival on Friday. As per reports, Chloe Zhao, the Oscar-winning director of Nomadland (2020), who was a member of the festival's competition jury this year, apparently rushed through the aisles to congratulate the film director.

She hugged Villeneuve and called the film "fantastic" amid the standing ovation where the crowd could be heard roaring and applauding the cast and crew for eight minutes. During the festival, star actor Timothee Chalamet along with the rest of the star cast had a couple of press screenings in the morning before they stepped out on the red carpet just before the big unveiling of the film at 7 pm.

While Chalamet, who is a very popular figure among Gen Z, garnered a lot of attention, there was no denying that the star power of the complete cast added another dimension to the event.

Zendaya and co-stars Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, and Chen Chang were all seen walking the red carpet arm-in-arm with director Villeneuve and Chalamet.

The film, which is the adaptation of Frank Herbert`s 1965 sci-fi classic of the same name, will be released across cinemas in Europe from September 15 and in the US and HBO Max on October 22. In terms of its release in India, the Legendary Entertainment and Warner Brothers' production film will be in theatres on October 15. Excited much?
