‘Single Hai Kya?’ Smriti Mandhana’s Incredible Achievement Gets Undermined By Odd Questions

The opening batter for the Indian women’s cricket team, Smriti Mandhana added another incredible achievement to her long list of accolades when she surpassed the 100-run mark for the very first time in Test cricket on Day 2 of the pink-ball match in Australia.

Finishing Day 1 with a solid 80-run innings, the 25-year old managed to score her maiden Test ton on Day 2 in Queensland and went on to score 127 runs off 216 deliveries while smashing 22 fours and a six along the way.

Through her incredible batting display, the southpaw not only managed to put the touring side in the driver’s seat for the match but also became the first Indian woman to score a ton on Australian soil.

In order to celebrate and troll her teammate a little bit, Mandhana’s fellow teammate Harleen Kaur Deol shared a picture of the batter taking off her helmet and raising the bat in the air after the wondrous occasion.

“Alexa please play: “oh haseena zulfo vali!!!” @mandhana_smriti,” wrote Deol in the caption of the tweet with joking intentions.

There were a lot of fans who interacted with Deol’s tweet about Mandhana. Some even went on to add the actual song in the background of the video in which the lefty hitter can be seen taking off her helmet.

And then came the people with the oddest of questions.

With absolutely no regard for the kind of batting feat Mandhana had achieved, nor talking about India’s dominating stance in Australia, the only thing they could ask was whether or not Smriti Mandhana was “single or taken”.

Is Smriti single or taken ?

It was a delivery by Ashleigh Gardner and a catch by Tahlia McGrath that ended Mandhana’s first innings after 216 balls. At the end of Day 2, the Indian Women’s team are at 276/5 with Punam Raut walking back to the dressing room for 36 runs, as the second-highest run-scorer for Mithali Raj’s side during the one-off Test so far.

Raj, herself scored 30 runs off 86 deliveries while scoring five fours before losing her wicket to a run-out thanks to Annabel Molineux.

As Day 3 resumes, Deepti Sharma and wicket-keeper Taniya Bhatia will take strike to further increase Team India’s first innings score.
