Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files has collected over Rs 240 crore since its March 11 release and continues to earn money despite being in its fourth week and facing competition from SS Rajamouli’s mega blockbuster RRR and John Abraham’s Attack.
Recently, in an interview, filmmaker Karan Johar finally opened up about The Kashmir Files’ massive box office success and went on to call it the biggest hit of Indian cinema in terms of return on investment. The movie has reportedly been made on a small budget of Rs 15 crore.

While talking about the success of recent films and deciding if it deserves an OTT or a theatrical release, Karan Johar told Galatta Plus, “For example, let’s just see, a film has to have that connect with this country like The Kashmir Files is not made on a budget like a lot of other movies but it is probably going to be cost to profit the biggest hit of Indian cinema.”

He further added, “I read Box Office India and they said that such a movement hasn’t happened since Jai Santoshi Maa, you know, since 1975. And I am like, you gotta acknowledge that there is something that is connecting with this nation and academically you have to watch it. You have to watch it to learn from it that ’look there is this movement that has happened’. It’s not anymore a film, it’s a movement.”
    Check out the video below:

The Kashmir Files stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi among others.
As for Karan Johar, he is returning to direction after 8 years with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani starring Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.

The filmmaker was supposed to helm period drama Takht but that film was put on hold indefinitely due to various external factors including the pandemic and Karan decided to work on a romantic comedy instead.

The film is slated to release on February 10, 2023.

South stars Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have been making headlines for one or another reason ever since they got separated in October last year. The ex-couple exchanged wedding vows in 2012 and ended their relationship after four years of togetherness.
While the estranged couple has moved on in their lives, the latest buzz suggests that both of them are not interested in working together and director Nandini Reddy is having a tough time due to their divorce.
    View this post on Instagram
According to reports, Samantha has worked with Nandini in Jabardasth (2013) and Oh! Baby (2019) and they were slated to team up for another project. Interestingly, Chay was in talks to play the lead role opposite Sam in it. However, their separation has now changed the director's initial plans.
As per a report by Tollywood.net, Naga Chaitanya is still a part of Nandini's upcoming directorial venture while she is hunting for Samantha’s replacement. Yes, you read that right!
Reportedly, the filmmaker had narrated the script to Naga and Samantha when they were together, however, ever since their separation, they 'are not ready to act together in a movie'.

Talking about the same, sources informed the portal, "Nandini Reddy has decided to stick with Naga Chaitanya and she is now in search of an actress who can replace Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the film".
However, the trio is yet to react to the ongoing speculations and an official announcement is still awaited.
Interestingly, amidst the rumours of reconciliation, The Family Man 2 actress recently unfollowed her ex-husband on social media and made it clear that they aren't coming back together.

Last year, post their separation announcement, Samantha was trolled badly by her fans who were disappointed with her decision. Later, in an interview, she slammed the trolls and talked about the tough phase after parting ways with Chay. The actress stated that back then, she thought she was weaker and would "crumble and die".
Later, Chaitanya also talked about ending relationship with the Oo Antava star and stated that divorce was the best decision as both of them are happy now.

Jasprit Bumrah is one of the most fearsome fast bowlers in the world at the moment. He has shown his class across the world, picking up five wickets in almost every Test playing nation. His unique action and ability to bowl toe-crushing yorkers at will has left many in awe of the Indian pacer.
Many doubted the longevity of Bumrah due to his unorthodox bowling action but the India pacer proved everyone wrong by becoming one of the best performers with the ball across formats.

Not just in India, cricketers in other parts of the globe are also trying to bowl like Bumrah. On Monday (April 4), Cricket Australia took to Twitter to post a video from the Sheffield Shield final between Victoria and Western Australia where Nic Maddinson pulled off a Jasprit Bumrah-like delivery that left the commentators in splits.

The fate of the match was all but decided as both teams scored heavily in their first innings and it was moving towards a draw but Victoria's middle-order batter Maddinson decided to have some fun as he tried to bowl a ball like Bumrah.

Indian fans were not too pleased with what they saw and came up with hilarious reactions, calling Maddinson a 'Chinese copy of Bumrah'.

Bumrah left his mark on the Australians when he picked up 21 wickets Down Under to help India register their first-ever Test series win in Australia.
The India pacer again made his presence felt on the next tour of Australia where he played the first three Tests and picked up 11 wickets. In the last Test, that will be remembered for a long time as India fielded one of their most inexperienced bowling line-up Down Under, Bumrah worked as a mentor for the youngsters guiding them from the sidelines like a football manager.
Still remember that moment when Siraj refused to go back to India for his father funeral and played 3 test matches against Australia. He even took a fifer at Gabba and received a warm hug from Bumrah.

That was the turning point of @mdsirajofficial career.

While it was fun to watch players having a laugh and enjoying themselves by mimicking an international star, it also shows the state of affairs in domestic cricket.
It was a final of one of Australian cricket's premier domestic tournaments and the winner was decided based on the first-innings lead.

With last night’s 54-run defeat against Punjab Kings (PBKS), defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have endured their worst start in IPL history. Before this season, the Chennai-based outfit had never opened its campaign with two consecutive losses.
However, the 15th edition has been their worst start to the season. They have suffered three consecutive losses in as many games and it has left them languishing second from bottom in the 10-team IPL 2022 points table.
    View this post on Instagram
Having restricted PBKS to 180 for eight on a batting paradise, the CSK bowlers had done a tremendous job. The onus was on their batters to get them over the line, but all of them, barring Shivam Dube, put up a horrendous show, which included their former skipper MS Dhoni.
Half of CSK was back in the hut with only 36 runs on the board and it forced Dhoni to rebuild the innings with a cautious knock. With each dot ball, the required run-rate was going through the roof but the former CSK skipper showed no intention whatsoever and kept on playing a ‘Test’ knock.
    View this post on Instagram
When 107 runs were required off the last seven overs, it was evident that runs were from both ends but Dhoni was in no mood to go through his gears. With each dot ball, the pressure was mounting on Dube and he finally perished after a valiant effort, smashing 57 off 30 balls.
The required run-rate was well above 15 runs an over and Dhoni was batting on 11 off 21 deliveries. Watching his knock, it seemed like he was playing on a different surface altogether. He made batting look so difficult and dug up a huge hole for himself.

More than the defeat, what hurt the fans the most was Dhoni’s lack of intent. It seemed as if he had already given up on the match and was playing to reduce the margin of the humiliation.
Obviously, the supporters were pissed at Dhoni’s ‘useless’ knock and they trolled him brutally for his Test-match-like knock. Some fans even joked that through this knock he wanted to popularise the longest format of the game.

Chennai Super Kings' Ambati Rayudu dropped a simple catch to give Punjab Kings all-rounder Liam Livingstone a second life in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Sunday (April 3). CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja had induced a false shot from Livingstone, who was hitting every bowler out of the park, in the seventh over and the ball had lobbed up to Rayudu at short third-man.
Rayudu settled himself under the ball but it popped out of his hands, giving Livingstone a reprieve. CSK were already finding it hard to stop the flow of runs and the blunder by the 36-year-old did not help the defending champions' cause.

Whenever CSK play, all eyes are on them thanks to their popularity and cricket fans wasted little time before having a go at Rayudu for dropping a simple chance to send back the in-form batter.
Rayudu, who had taken a dig at Vijay Shankar for being termed as a 3D player by the selectors when the all-rounder was picked ahead of him for the 2019 World Cup, was on the receiving end of the trolls.

    — Mr. 360' (@_Mr__360_) April 3, 2022Rayudu did redeem himself as he finally managed to hold onto Livingstone's catch later in the match. After completing the catch, Rayudu had a big smile on his face as he took a sigh of relief.
Thanks to Livingstone's quick-fire knock of 60, Punjab managed to post 180 runs on the board after being sent in to bat by CSK skipper Jadeja.

In the chase, CSK never really got going as they had lost half their side for 36 runs inside eight overs. MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube tried to steady the ship but the required run-rate kept going up and it forced the batters to go for big shots on almost every delivery.
Despite a fighting half-century from Dube, CSK fell 54 runs short of the target, registering their third loss in as many games in the ongoing edition of the IPL.

The Chennai-based franchise are languishing at the bottom of the table and need to turn things around quickly if they want to defend their title.
The major worrying sign for the defending champions is the lack of x-factor in their bowling line-up. The absence of Deepak Chahar, who is out due to injury, has not helped either but CSK need to make the most out of whatever resources they have.

Featuring Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles, the film depicts the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir insurgency in 1990.

Sharing details about Darshan's casting, he added, "As for the role Darshan plays, we had shortlisted a few names, but Vivek was like, 'I want this guy to play this role' he was very specific. So we brought Darshan on board".
Seeing the record-breaking success of The Kashmir Files, many people have questioned the makers if they plan to share the profits with the victims, the Kashmiri Pandits.
Reacting to it, Agarwal shared, "No, we have no plans about donating any amount from the profits. That is because when we were making the film we never thought that it would be so big. So we did not really even consider this option".
