    Australia registered a comfortable 71-run win over arch-rivals England to clinch their record-extending seventh Women's World Cup on Sunday (April 3). 

    The win was set up by star wicket-keeper batter Alyssa Healy, who has a knack of putting in match-winning performances in big games, who played a knock of 170 in the summit clash. 
    Australia were the favourites to win the trophy but they did it without breaking any sweat and it speaks volumes of how far ahead they are of their opponents in terms of talent across disciplines in the game.

    The whole cricketing fraternity stood up and applauded the dominance that was on display by Meg Lanning's side. From Wasim Jaffer to Ravichandran Ashwin everyone tipped their hats to the Australian team for yet another successful World Cup campaign.

    Not too long ago, when the Indian cricket team was knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2021 before even making it into the knockout stage, the world was after Hardik Pandya’s life for not being able to bowl his share of overs.
    Now, that doubt and hate towards the Indian all-rounder seem to be fading, especially with the kind of significant improvement and stability that Pandya has shown as a bowler in the first two matches of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.

    Just the fact that the Gujarat Titans skipper was able to complete his four-over quota in both the matches while looking healthy enough to bat and continue fielding on the ground, shows how much his back has improved since undergoing surgery to get rid of a career-threatening back injury.
    In GT’s most recent match against Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals, Pandya was not only able to dismiss the opener Tim Seifert, but he also managed to clock a 141.1kmph delivery as the last ball of his spell, which is a magnificent achievement in itself, considering the fact that the medical staff of the Men in Blue were too afraid to even see him on the field a couple of months ago.

    Pandya has always been the number one choice for the Indian cricket team as an all-rounder. When healthy, he is compared to the legendary Kapil Dev’s talent and skillset. However, back when his bowling was aloof, a younger and promising Venkatesh Iyer was brought into the team with the hopes of filling in Pandya’s shoes.
    To be fair to the 27-year-old, his rise through the ranks while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders allowed him the confidence to deliver some good performances for the national team as well. 
    Since debuting in 2021, Iyer has played 9 T20Is and 2 ODis while scoring 133 and 24 runs, respectively. He has also taken five international wickets in the shortest format of the game.

    Having said that, the selectors, BCCI officials and fans, in general, were always certain about the fact that Iyer’s journey with Team India will be a short one and once Pandya finds his health and mojo back, there were no two ways about his return to the squad, which only meant Iyer’s ouster.
    And when Pandya stuck a 141.1kmph bowl on Saturday, fans were convinced that the day of his return as one of the Men in Blue is closer than most had imagined. 
    As a result, they have already started making farewell arrangements for Iyer.

    Mumbai Indians are known to give a platform to youngsters to excel at the biggest stage -- the Indian Premier League (IPL) and we have seen what it could do for inspiring cricketers with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav making it big in international cricket. 

    Their scouting team receives praise every year and this year is no different. Even though the five-time IPL champions have had a poor start to their campaign, losing both of their first two matches in the tournament, they have found a promising youngster who looks set to make it big in the time to come.

    He scored a quick-fire half-century (61 off 33) against Rajasthan Royals in an innings laced with five sixes and three boundaries. 
    The teenager had an average outing in the Under-19 World Cup in 2020 where India lost to Bangladesh in the summit clash. He only managed to score 86 runs in three outings but that did not stop him from working hard as he grabbed attention with big scores in domestic cricket. 
    The hard work paid off for Varma when he was picked by the Mumbai Indians for the ongoing edition of the IPL and with injury to Suryakumar Yadav, he straightaway made the cut to the playing XI. 
    Coming from a humble background, the journey for Varma was filled with various obstacles but the batter believed in his ability and was duly rewarded for his commitment. 
    Speaking to Cricbuzz, Varma said that to date they do not own a house but with the money that he will get after being picked in the IPL by the five-time champions, he wants to change that and gift his parents a house. 
    "Growing up, we've had a lot of financial difficulties. My father with his meagre salary had to look after my cricket expenses as well as my elder brother's studies. In the last few years, with some sponsorship and match fees, I could just about take care of my cricketing expenses," Varma was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. 
    "We don't own a house as yet. So with whatever I have earned in this IPL, my only aim is to get a house for my parents. This IPL money gives me the luxury to play freely for the rest of my career," he added. 
    Reacting to the teenager's ambition, fans got emotional and labelled his story as an example of what IPL could do to the lives of such talented cricketers.

    Skipper Babar Azam led from the front once more, this time with an undefeated century, as the Men in Green cruised to victory in a one-sided affair. 
    Pakistan's players were happy after defeating the five-time ODI World Cup champions, despite the fact that it was a well-deserved series win. 
    Their exhilarating celebrations, on the other hand, stood out the most.
    After a stunning series triumph against Australia, the Pakistani players were enthusiastically celebrating with the winner's trophy. 
    They were all so engrossed in their post-match revelry that the winner's board collapsed unexpectedly, as did all of the front-row participants. Fortunately, nothing bad happened, and they were all up on their feet in no time.

    For his superb batting performances in the three matches, Pakistan captain Babar Azam was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Series, amassing 276 runs, including two centuries and a half-century. For his outstanding exploits, the batting sensation was also given a car.
    During the award ceremony, the skipper addressed how the team needed a boost of confidence after losing the first match. 
    While accepting the award, Azam made sure that the credit was equally distributed among the rest of the players. He also acknowledged how getting early wickets enabled his side to create pressure on the touring Australian side and thanked his bowlers for it.

    Pakistan lost opener Fakhar Zaman for 17 runs while pursuing 211 runs, but captain Babar and Imam-ul-Haq added an undefeated 190-run partnership for the second wicket. 
    As the Men in Green crossed the finish line in 38 overs, Azam scored an unbroken 105 runs off 115 deliveries, while Imam remained unbeaten on 89 runs off 100 balls.

    The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is currently in progress, and fans have already watched some thrilling bat-and-ball action. 
    At the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, Gujarat Titans faced Delhi Capitals in the competition's tenth match. The match played out like a rollercoaster, with DC looking for a key role while pursuing 172.
    The likes of Mohammed Shami, Rashid Khan, and, especially, Lockie Ferguson, though, were too hot to handle for the Delhi hitters, and GT won their second game in a row. In the meantime, the game drew attention for a different reason.

    A couple was seen kissing in the stands, and the photo quickly went viral. And without taking a lot of time, people started talking about it as if they had never seen anyone kiss both in real and reel life.

    Ever since Ranbir Kapoor & Alia Bhatt started dating, fans have been waiting for a wedding announcement from the couple.
    Every media interaction or Q&A session they have, they are asked the same question, ‘shaadi kab kar rahe ho?’ just like all desi kids are asked by their relatives. 
    In fact, a few days ago, Ranbir broke the silence and said he and Alia do intend to marry soon but he won’t tell the date in a press interview. Fair enough!

    After much speculation and wait, the couple have finally decided to get hitched and it was sooner than we could have imagined. 

    According to an exclusive by Pinkvilla the couple will be finally tying the knot in the second week of April. 
    Originally, it was later in the month but they had to prepone due to the deteriorating health of Alia’s grandfather Narendra Nath Razdan. The Bhatt family wanted the couple to get married as soon as possible.

    Rumour has it that Alia & Ranbir won’t be flying out to an exotic wedding destination but will have their nuptials in Mumbai, in Kapoor’s ancestral home, RK House, where Ranbir’s parents, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor also got married in the 80s.
