Boney Kapoor, the prominent Bollywood producer has turned his sights to Southern cinema in order to expand his business. Starring Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar, Valimai, produced by Boney, has managed to rake in impressive figures in its first 10 days itself.
Valimai, which was released on February 24 has already managed to collect Rs 200 crores, making it a successful venture away from the mainstream Bollywood films that Boney Kapoor is used to bankrolling.
In an interview with Firstpost, Kapoor was asked to explain why South Indian movies tended to outperform Hindi films at the Box Office.
According to him most movies from the South are made keeping the pan-Indian sensibilities in mind, and hence, their dubbed versions also find success in the Northern parts of India. In Boney’s opinion, South Indian movies are better balanced with a mix of family drama, action, and comedy to entertain the audiences.
Furthermore, Boney Kapoor made an interesting observation in the interview. "Today, some of the Mumbai filmmakers serve McDonald's, KFC, pizza where you get only what you order, whereas, the South offers you thali with roti, dal-chawal, sabzi, chicken."
He believes that the Indian audiences appreciate a blend of everything in their films now, and applauded the South Indian films for making that impact.

A veteran of the Bollywood film industry, Boney Kapoor shared the motivation behind his decision to begin producing South Indian films.
As per Boney, the dubbed versions of films starring South Indian superstars like Allu Arjun and Mahesh Babu fetched a handsome amount, as satellite channels were willing to shell out around Rs 15 to 25 crores for its rights. He added that even Hindi films haven’t been able to demand such a ransom despite their supposed national dominance.
Valimai marks the second time Ajith Kumar, filmmaker H. Vinoth and Boney Kapoor have collaborated together on a project. Their previous outing was 2019’s Nerkonda Paarvai, a legal drama that was essentially a Tamil remake of the 2016 Hindi film Pink starring Amitabh Bachchan. With Ajith reprising Big B’s role in the regional remake, Nerkonda Paarvai was a success.

When the reality show Shark Tank India was released on OTT, no one would’ve thought that the hype for this investment-related show would be that big.
From judges to contestants to even Ranvijay Singh - the host, everyone was in the limelight, as people went crazy after the Indian version of the show.
While Ashneer Grover might have taken away most of the highlights (and memes), there was one contestant, in particular, that managed to make a lasting impression on not just the judges but also on the viewers.
© Twitter
His name is ‘Jugaadu Kamlesh’ aka Kamlesh Nanasaheb Ghumare, who had appeared on the show with the idea to make life for farmers in the agricultural sector - a little bit better.
Kamlesh pitched a Pesticides Spray solution to the Sharks, of whom only one had the vision, the compassion and the courage to invest in his idea - Peyush Bansal, founder of LensKart.
Both Kamlesh and Peyush were hailed by the audience and now, as the show has come to an end, people are wondering whether or not Peyush Bansal really is working with Kamlesh on his idea, or was that just a media gimmick.
Finally responding to the curious fans, Peyush recently posted an update on Jugaadu Kamlesh on Instagram, giving a full low-down about the pace at which work has been going on.
View this post on Instagram
He started by addressing, “Everyone I meet these days has one question....what is update on Kamlesh from @sharktank.india ? While I don't believe in talking about things till we achieve something, because of popular demand...here is a quick update…”
He then shared, “We have initiated a process of design and consumer validation of the cart with help of a team of professional Industrial designers. Design Team visited Malegaon and nearby farms, spent time with different farmers and different crops, along with @jugaadu_kamlesh, Naru and took a lot of feedback.”
© Peyush Basal
Peyush also mentioned their biggest concerns at the moment as well as their next steps.
He wrote, “Biggest concerns are: weight of Cart, movement on different uneven terrains and width of cart (as alley size is small in certain crops). Next steps : Find creative solutions to these problems, do design optimisations and go back and test again.”
© Peyush Basal
It is heartening to see that a man as hard-working as Kamlesh is finally getting the kind of direction, support and guidance that he needed to become a successful entrepreneur.

Virat Kohli's love for fitness is not hidden from anyone and it won't be wrong if we say that he should be given all the credit to take Team India's fitness to a different level since he took over the reins from former captain MS Dhoni.
It is not just his physical fitness but Kohli's mental toughness too is second to none.
The 33-year-old led India across formats for over five years but he did not let the burden of captaincy affect his batting as he smashed records for fun during his stint at the helm.
BREAKING: After seven years at the helm, Virat Kohli has stepped down as India’s Test captain. pic.twitter.com/0aZzSUvEYq
— ICC (@ICC) January 15, 2022
Kohli announced himself at the international stage in his very first World Cup game as he slammed an unbeaten century against Bangladesh in Dhaka back in 2011.
During the tournament, everyone is well aware of the health condition of Yuvraj Singh who was diagnosed with cancer but carried on and won player of the tournament as India ended its 28-year-long wait for the World Cup title.

— ICC (@ICC) November 23, 2014
However, not many know that Kohli too was battling pain as he took the field in the semi-final game against arch-rivals Pakistan. Team India's former physio Ashish Kaushik lavished praise on Kohli's pain endurance ability while sharing an anecdote from the 2011 World Cup semi-final.
Kaushik said Kohli knows how to play through pain and while some players react differently to pain as compared to others, Kohli is someone who always looks for solutions to make it work.
CONFIRMED: @imVkohli will not play for Surrey after suffering a neck injury playing for RCB.
He will undertake a fitness Test on 15th June, and is expected to be fit for India's tours of Ireland and England. pic.twitter.com/923ubTK7se
— ICC (@ICC) May 24, 2018
"His pain tolerance is phenomenal. Some players get affected by pain more than others - pain being a subjective marker - but Kohli has got a tremendous ability to endure pain and look for solutions. I remember he had some neck and jaw pain before the 2011 World Cup semi-final in Mohali but he would take everything extremely, extremely lightly, and somehow know that he can work through it," Kaushik was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
While other players were competing with each other within the cricket community in terms of being the fittest athlete across the world, Kohli always had a bigger vision and he was looking up to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Novak Djokovic and worked towards becoming one of the fittest across the sports fraternity.
"He would look up to Djokovic, Ronaldo. Those were the people he was comparing his fitness to. Not to the other players within the fraternity of cricket, but he was looking at the fittest guys in the field of sport. That's where he wanted to see himself," he added.

Kohli's desire to challenge himself and his ability to endure pain makes him a different kind of a beast and we are glad to have witnessed him at the peak of his power as he dominated world cricket.

Gujarat Titans had suffered a massive blow when England opener Jason Roy pulled out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) due to bubble fatigue.
View this post on InstagramThe 31-year-old opener, who was bought by the Hardik Pandya-led franchisefor his base price of Rs 2 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction, had put the new outfit in a spot of bother, leaving them in a race against time to find a suitable replacement.
View this post on InstagramJason Roy was one of the biggest names in their squad and everybody had thought that the person replacing him would be of a similar profile, if not the stature.
However, it turns out that the franchise has decided to go in a completely different direction and taken a massive punt on a young Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter named Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who had made headlines during the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year.
127 runs
Eight fours, nine sixes
Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the first batsman from Afghanistan to score an ODI hundred on debut pic.twitter.com/poAz6D6bfK
— ICC (@ICC) January 21, 2021
Gurbaz made his T20I debut in September 2019 while it took him two years to make his maiden 50-over appearance at the international level. However, he grabbed the opportunity with both hands and became the first Afghan player to score a hundred on his ODI debut. In just nine ODIs, he has smashed three centuries. He also has three T20I fifties under his belt.
According to a Cricbuzz report, the reason why the second most expensive franchise in IPL history picked the 20-year-old over any other foreign player was to cover up for their own mess which their management made while sitting on the auction table last month.
View this post on InstagramActually, the franchise realised that other than Wriddhiman Saha and Matthew Wade they had no other wicket-keeping option on their roster. Due to his contractual obligations with Cricket Australia, Wade is set to miss the first two weeks of the tournament which leaves them only with Saha and the franchise had their own doubts about him as well, especially after the controversies he was involved in recently.
Owing to all the above reasons, the outfit based out of the biggest cricket stadium in the world decided to take a massive punt on the young Afghan cricketer.
A fantastic innings from 17-year-old Rahmanullah Gurbaz!

For many this decision came as a huge surprise as they couldn’t fathom why any franchise would replace an established name like Roy with a player who has yet to prove his calibre against a high-class bowling attack.
Those who could make sense of their choice hailed it as a masterstroke, while those who couldn’t, argued that by picking an inexperienced player the management had further weakened their squad and dug up their own grave.

— rocky jasoos (@JasoosRocky) March 8, 2022Who?
— Ashish Shrikhande (@Shrikhande7) March 8, 2022No doubt, this young Afghan cricketer has had an outstanding start to his international career but majority of his knocks have come against lower-ranked teams like Zimbabwe, Ireland and other associate nations.
I, by no means, am trying to doubt his talent and suggest that he can’t succeed against stronger bowling attacks. He sure can. He has got the potential and he could very well prove all the critics wrong but until that happens, Gujarat Titans fans’ apprehension is totally justified.

Australia toured Pakistan for the first time in 24 years for a full-fledged tour, which kicked off with a Test match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium where the hosts won the toss and opted to bat.
Cricket fans in Pakistan and all over the world were waiting to see what type of pitch the hosts would offer to the touring Australian team, considering their recent form where they smashed England 4-0 at home.
Despite all the build-up and hype around the 'historic Test', the pitch turned out to be the flattest one that fans across the world have seen in decades. After the first four days, only 11 wickets fell and the fate of the contest was decided even before the final day's play began on Tuesday.
A dead pitch Rawalpindi Test? This guy has a request to curator of Pindi Cricket Stadium! #PAKvAUS pic.twitter.com/z1467soK7B
— Arfa Feroz Zake (@ArfaSays_) March 8, 2022
Former India opening batter Wasim Jaffer said that rather than sweating over slow over-rates, the ICC should work towards getting rid of 'dead pitches' which are the biggest threat to the longest format of the game.
"I find it amusing when Test matches get over inside 4 days yet teams lose WTC points for overrate. The biggest threat to test cricket is not overrate. Tests rarely go to day 5 anyway nowadays. The biggest threat to test cricket are dead pitches. Dead pitch = Dead game. #PAKvAUS," Jaffer tweeted.

Fans too took to Twitter to slam the Pakistan Cricket Board for preparing a track where getting a result across five days was impossible.
24yrs since Aussies have played a test in Pakistan so they make the pitch an absolute road and we get to see 2 and a bit innings for an uninspired draw #14/1100 #PAKvAUS #Rawalpindi #battingaverageboost
— Simon Gray (@givetheslip) March 8, 2022This is a failed plan to curate unfavorable pitch for fastbowlers which damaged the charm of Rawalpindi Test. You can never curate spin friendly pitches in Pindi Cricket Stadium! The conditions in Rawalpindi are naturally meant to favor pacers hence should be kept natural #PAKvAUS
— Arfa Feroz Zake (@ArfaSays_) March 7, 2022Cricket pitch bol ke highway pe match khila diya 4 din hoye lekin 1st innings khtm ni hui inki https://t.co/oqwqYWfqLd
— Satish Shah (@iamstsh) March 7, 2022I reckon a literal road would have more variation than the cricket pitch in Rawalpindi at the minute
— Kishan (@ShishKebab2k) March 8, 2022The whole world went crazy @ICC intervened to assess pitch quality @ Ahmedabad pitch for supporting spin bowling.
but its all okay when a road of a pitch which supports batting is served at Rawalpindi #hypocrisy at its best!!@ICC any comments??@BCCI @TheRealPCB @ECB_cricket
— Venkat Iyer (@venkyism) March 7, 2022We could have easily have beaten Australia on a normal Rawalpindi wicket but instead PCB thought of preparing this road I hate this.
— Ali (@Bhuut_) March 6, 2022Playing on Rawalpindi pitch be like
Its a shame we waited 24 years to play on a road? @TheRealPCB seriously need to look into this matter otherwise test cricket would be dead in Pakistan, no one want to engage in boring matches,#AUSvsPAK #Cricket #TeamPakistan #PAKvAUS pic.twitter.com/VrwlrgoFa6
— haseeb raza (@iamhaseebraza) March 7, 2022 On one of the flattest pitches in the world, Pakistan batters scored runs for fun but showed little intent as their scoring rate was below three runs per over.
Azhar Ali and Imam-ul-Haq scored 185 and 157 runs respectively to take Pakistan's total to 476 for four in the first innings.

— Saj Sadiq (@SajSadiqCricket) March 5, 2022
In reply, Australia too started well and put on a 156-run partnership for the first wicket. However, in a bid to accelerate they kept losing wickets and were bowled out for 459, 17 runs short of Pakistan's first-innings total.
But with a flat deck and bad light along with inclement weather, the first Test featuring an Australian team since 1998 ended in a draw.

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan, who was last seen in Bob Biswas, often gives it back to social media trolls in a savage way. Well, that's what he did recently too. A few days after hitting back at Kamaal R Khan for trolling Bollywood, Junior Bachchan gave a solid reply to a troll this time, who mocked his film career.
View this post on Instagram
Taking a dig at the actor's Bollywood career, a Twitter user shared a meme on the platform. The troll made the meme out of a moment from Sanjay Mishra's film Kaamyaab, in which the actor played a journeyman character actor. However, Mishra's face was replaced with Abhishek's face. The meme reads, "When Abhishek gets any call from any director for movie - Tu meri le toh nahi raha na? (sic)".
The user posted it on Twitter and even tagged Junior Bachchan in the post. He wrote, "Sach hai na sir? @juniorbachchan". Take a look at the tweet below:

Reacting to the meme, Abhishek gave a witty reply and said, "Hey man! Loved your bio ‘Whatever you are…. Be a good ONE’ So true too…. You truly are!!!"

Fans of the actor showed their support for him in the comments section, saying that they have complete faith in his acting abilities. A user wrote, "Why to give attention to people like him. We all know how good as an actor you are".

On the career front, Abhishek has several interesting projects in his kitty. The actor will next be seen in Dasvi as a 10th fail politician. Co-starring Yami and Nimrat Kaur, the film will reportedly deliver a message about the importance of education in today's times.

Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan is truly back!
Having been under the radar for so long, Shah Rukh is clearly loving working again.
Last year was a difficult one for Shah Rukh and his family, after which he naturally needed some time off from the public eye.
© Instagram
The actor was reported to be spending a lot of time with son Aaryan and the rest of the family in their farmhouse in Alibaug amongst some of the places.
However, now that he's well-rested, Shah Rukh is making up for the lost time.
The actor, who recently carried an AMA session for fans, has already been seen in a couple of advertisements with the new Thumbs Up commercial being one of the prominent ones.
SRK's decision to endorse Thumbs Up comes at a time when its older ambassador Salman Khan started endorsing Pepsi.
Salman was also seen in a funny new ad for Pepsi where he could be seen meeting his younger self from Hum Aapke Hain Koun movie.
Well, it looks like SRK's got his hands on another advertisement.
King Khan was just seen in the ad for Dubai Tourism, with the actor sharing it on his own Instagram handle.
“Every experience becomes a special memory in Dubai. Explore the city with me! #DubaiPresents @visit.dubai #visitdubai.” he wrote.
View this post on Instagram
In the ad, he can be seen sporting long hair and almost in his normal element.
Yep. He sure looks very happy doing the ad, as he's playing football, hugging people.
I know that these may be just the demands of the ad and we may be reading too much into it, but it's still a welcome sight to see King Khan share a laugh.
Shah Rukh is currently in Spain where he is shooting for his film Pathaan.
The movie stars Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, and Salman, who will be making a big cameo appearance in the film.
