Legends are made of different stuff. It’s an old saying but it is so true. No matter how hard life or any individual, for that matter, tries to pull them down, these people never crumble and always find a way to turn their adversity into an opportunity.
Their ability to face all the problems front on and come out on the top is what makes them special, and prepares them for greatness.

The cricket fraternity around the world is currently mourning the loss of one such legend – Shane Warne, arguably the greatest spinner to have graced this game.
His untimely demise left billions of fans shell-shocked and it’s been over a couple of days but people are still coming to terms with this tragic loss.

His heroics on the field earned Warney fans all over the world and all those people who admired the champion bowler are paying him tributes in their own way.

On Tuesday, veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin posted a video on his YouTube channel and shared an interesting anecdote about the leg-spinner that not many people know about. Even Ashwin came to know of it after he passed away, while having a discussion with head coach Rahul Dravid.
The Chennai-born, who recently became India’s second most successful bowler in Test cricket going past legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev, revealed how Warne turned a disaster into an opportunity.

The finger spinner said that Warne used to play a Rugby-like sport named ‘Aussies Rules Football’, despite not having the right physique to participate in the close-contact sport.
Since Warne wasn’t that strong physically, the “tall and well-built” opponents used to bully him and he ended up with broken legs once.
“I was talking to Rahul Dravid who was extremely sad. For a spinner, your shoulder and upper half of the body has to be extremely strong because you have to use many rotations to spin the ball. Because for a spinner to master your craft, you should keep bowling in the nets. More so, if you are a leg-spinner. He had strong shoulders and that was his massive advantage,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
“It seems Rahul Bhai asked him, 'How do you have such strong shoulders? What do you do?' It is such a unique story. There is a sport called 'Aussies Rules Football'. It is a sport like Rugby. It seems he wanted to play the sport but was not built for it since people who play it are tall and well-built blokes,” he added.

Ashwin further shared that his condition was so miserable that he couldn’t walk for three-four weeks but instead of getting disheartened he went about his business using his hands. And that is how he developed his strong muscles which gave him an advantage over his counterparts.

“For 3-4 weeks he walked or rather floated using his bare hands and those made his shoulders strong and there was no looking back. That's what he has told Rahul Bhai. We all face obstacles in life, but look how Warne converted it as his success formula,” Ashwin added.
Legbreaks. Flippers. Batters bamboozled. Fans awestruck. World Cup, Ashes, IPL wins.

The wizard not only revived legspin, he became legspin. A bowling action imitated by the world over.

Thanks for all the memories. The cricket world will miss you terribly, Shane Warne pic.twitter.com/LZcQGLgYx2

This interesting incident tells us Warne was a different breed. He never got bogged down by difficulties and always found a way to excel.

While talking to Brut India, Khanna stated that Shaktimaan has all the powers and will become a global superhero now. He said, "If you compare Shaktimaan with the powers of any superhero, maybe an Iron Man, maybe a Spider-man, maybe a Superman, Shaktimaan can do everything".

According to him, Shaktimaan will give strong competition to Avengers. "It will become a global superhero now, in front of maybe Avengers," the actor added.
While fans might think that Shaktimaan's power might be increased to compete with Avengers, Khanna believes that the desi superhero is already made up of the five elements of the universe and doesn't need a further boost. He shared, "People say you will have to increase the powers, Avengers have come and you are in competition with Avengers. But let me tell you that Shaktimaan has every kind of power because he’s made from the five elements of the universe".

Before the first Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali, the Indian cricket fans had only one name on their lips – former India skipper Virat Kohli, and rightly so. After all, it was going to be his 100th Test appearance, a feat that had not only been achieved by only 11 Indian cricketers before him.

However, after the match, Kohli's name was replaced by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was playing his first Test match in over three months. On his return to the game’s longest formar, the Saurashtra all-rounder single-handedly outclassed the visitors – first with the willow and then with the ball.

The 33-year-old southpaw first blasted an unbeaten 175 – his highest Test score that propelled India to a mammoth first innings total, and then gave nine Sri Lankan batters the marching orders across two innings.
Watching him in action, it never felt like he was playing his first red-ball game since November. The ease with which he decimated the Sri Lankan bowlers, spin or pace, made one feel as if he was never away.
He was, without any doubt, India’s best performer with both bat and ball and deserved to win the player of the match award.

Not just that, his incredible all-round display has also helped him scale the ICC Test All-Rounders’ chart. The left-arm orthdox spinner now has 406 ratings points and he pushed the former West Indies captain Jason Holder and fellow teammate Ravichandran Ashwin to the second and third positions, respectively.

    — Vicky Shinde (@iamshinde83) March 9, 2022Jadeja had suffered a right forearm injury during the Kanpur Test against New Zealand last year which made him miss the all-important tour of the Rainbow Nation. He returned to action only a few weeks back in the three-match T20I series against the Lankan Lions and has been terrific since then.
After playing a key role in India’s 3-0 clean sweep over Sri Lanka, the southpaw continued his impressive form in the traditional format as well and produced a performance that would surely go down in our memory lane.

While he has always impressed with the ball, it was heartening to see him delivering with the bat in the last one week. We hope he keeps excelling like this in both the departments. Fingers crossed!

After being a known actor on TV, Yami Gautam made her big-screen debut with Shoojit Sircar’s 2012 comedy Vicky Donor. She received acclaim for her performance but that didn’t translate into better roles.
Over the years, she starred in films like Total Siyapaa, Action Jackson, Sanam Re, Sarkar 3 and even became the butt of jokes on social media after her character was killed in films like Badlapur, Kaabil etc.
The year 2019 changed it all for her with films like Uri: The Surgical Strike and Bala. And recently her first “female-centric” film was released titled A Thursday.
The film received positive reviews and turned out to be a success.
Celebrating the success of A Thursday, Yami Gautam sat for a chat with us as we discussed her latest film and her journey in the Hindi film industry.

When pointed out about how there used to be jokes about her on social media for her character’s limited screen time in a lot of films and if it was suffocating for her talent wasn’t being recognised, Yami exclusively told MensXP that she didn’t watch Action Jackson but is aware of the kind of jokes that went around.

As for feeling suffocated, she said, “Obviously, there are so many things that are floating around and these jokes that you are mentioning might be funny for a lot of people and today, I am comfortable listening to them but imagine, 7 years back, a newcomer like myself listening to these things and you wanna scream your heart out, ‘No, that’s not what it is. How can you make a joke out of it? And I did a good part.’ I know Badlapur was a cameo and I wanted to be a part of a Sriram Raghavan film. I did Kaabil because it was still a very challenging role. I was working with one of the leading actors, stars of our country who is also a really good actor in a very credible film. So, why would I say no to that? And as an actor, it really gets you these things.”
She further added, “So, everybody has a part to play in what goes in your mind. Not just the industry, the media. The joke makers are coming from nowhere from there only, the newage social media thing. There is another side also right. So, at that time it used to bother me but then I was like no I can’t take it seriously. And I had to move past it. And I used to feel, ‘Why are people being so mean? Why are they saying these things?’ Tell me which actress has not died in a film more than once. They have. But for me, it just became more convenient, ‘Achcha chalo yeh toh aise hi hai aise hi roles ke liye.’ ‘Damsel in distress, yeh, woh…’”

She continued, “And somewhere I was looking, any which ways, for a cause for myself where I start looking out for characters, for roles which would be worth the potential that I hold. But you don’t just wish and you get them. It comes with a lot of patience, a lot of hard work, and auditions. I still had to screen test after Vicky Donor. But, I was like if that’s the way. Though that wasn’t the way for everyone. But theek hai if that’s the way for me I will do it. I got Kaabil out of the screen test. They really liked it and I was like, ‘Fine, I have earned it my way’. And there were some screen tests which I didn’t make it. And sometimes there was no screen test also and still, I didn’t make it (laughs). So, they are experiences.”

The actress further talked about how “it just takes the belief and confidence of one director to change it for you.”
She then talked about how Kaabil was a big success and it was a challenging role for her even if the character was killed halfway through. “It’s the difference of projection. How you project yourself out there. You know, outside that film and how you market yourself, which I didn’t know. I still don’t know. That’s the other side of it.”
Yami then talked about Uri: The Surgical Strike and how director Aditya Dhar cast her in that film despite people saying, “No, no, no, she is okay for only certain kinds of roles and how conveniently they forget, ‘Okay, I did that but I also did Vicky Donor.’”
    © Maddock Films
Talking about Bala, she said, “It was Amar’s (director Amar Kaushik) faith in me. I am sure because a lot of people told me that we told Amar, ‘Why are you casting Yami? How can she do comedy? Matlab…’ and all that. But, he was convinced. I read a few lines for Bala as Pari. Amar just wanted to hear some lines and I said, ‘Yes, my director should be fully convinced. I am ready, I will go for it.’ So, I read a few lines. We were just sitting in the office and he said, ‘What do you think of this scene and just by reading this scene and how do you think she should sound like?’ And I did, and he was like, ‘Ya, that’s my character’.”

She then added, “This is called reverse casting. That’s always worked for me. A Thursday was reverse casting, which worked for me. I don’t know, I will say that for every film (laughs).”
When asked that after the success of films like Bala, Uri and now A Thursday, if she is still asked for auditions, Yami replied, “For look tests? You never know in this industry. Ya, I don’t have to now but maybe if there is some role or a certain very senior director. It’s not about the auditions, it’s like a screen test where you just read a few lines. Maybe, for a part where I feel I really want it and if that is the criteria of someone casting for their film then ya I’ll go for it.”
    © Instagram/Yami Gautam
She then compared the culture in the Hindi film industry with the West and mentioned how even the biggest of stars give auditions in Hollywood but “This is not the culture for everyone here. It’s a very selective thing. You know how it happens here. So, you feel 'achcha, did you do a screen test for the other actor or that contemporary of mine? You didn’t, so why me?’ But then I was like, ‘No, let me get this out of my system.’ ‘Why me?’ needs to go away. It’s my life, it’s my journey, it’s my experience. To get there, I will have to go the extra mile. I understand that. There is nothing against…  I am saying it as a matter of fact, you are from the industry, you are not from the industry, outsider, you have no network whatsoever, each person has his own journey and struggles. So, this is mine and I have come a long way crossing that. Now the next phase of my life will also have maybe different sorts of challenges. I don’t know what, but I am sure there will be.”
