After starting their campaign on a high with a massive win over arch-rivals Pakistan, the Indian women’s cricket were given a heavy blow by the hosts New Zealand in their second league game of the ongoing 50-over World Cup at the Seddon Park, Hamilton.
Playing on their home turf, the White ferns, shrugging off their disappointing performance in the opening encounter against the West Indies, got their campaign back on track beating the Mitahli Raj-led side by 62 runs.

Apart from the opening phase of the match where the Indian bowlers picked up two early wickets, with just 54 runs on the board, the Indian team played catch-up to the opposition for the major rest of the game. First with the ball and then during the run chase.
More than the defeat, it was the team’s tactics that left the fans scratching their heads. It all started at the toss when the Indian skipper invited the opposition to bat after winning the toss.

On a turf that was tailor-made for batting, giving up the advantage was beyond anybody’s comprehension. If that was all, the management decided to drop the 18-year-old Shafali Verma to the bench after a few bad innings.
Verma is arguably the biggest talent that the Indian team has unearthed in the last couple of years and it was important for the team management to back her to the tilt and give her the confidence to go out and perform freely.

Their decision to shuffle the batting line-up proved to be diatster. Barring Smriti Mandhana, the top three was overhauled. Yastika Bhatia opened the innings alongside Mandhana while Deepti Sharma came in to bat at one down, with skipper Mitahli Raj pushing herself down to number four.
The Indian fans also nt convinced with any of the decisions taken by the team management and slammed them for getting the game plan completely wrong.

Honestly not sure there is too much to read into what was said at the post-match from batting coach, other than him saying we will see a new approach day after tomorrow. More questions than answers for me, but if you'd like to watch https://t.co/xewIO54feR

    — Lavanya (Following #CWC22) (@lav_narayanan) March 10, 2022With the World Cup being the biggest tournament on a cricket calendar, it’s not the time for teams to try out new things but the Indian management did exactly that, and it came back to haunt them badly.
After the defeat, India’s batting coach Shiv Sunder Das accepted that the team wanted to do things differently but it didn’t pay off. He even added that given the result they will most likely go back to the drawing board and devise a different strategy before the next game.

History tells us that in big tournaments teams with set game plans tend to do better. We hope that the Indian players take note of that and pull up their socks if they want to go deep into the tournament.

India is a cricket-mad nation and naturally the cricketers enjoy a massive fan-following. It’s great to be admired by billions of people but there are also consequences of this crazy popularity.
For cricketers it becomes easy to handle this constant attention after a while but that’s not the case with their family members.
    View this post on Instagram
Just because they are the relatives of a public figure, they don’t enjoy the same privacy they once did. Things are even more difficult for the life-partner of a famous cricketer.
Along with their husbands, their names also start doing rounds in the media, which most of them detest. Sometimes they even have to face unnecessary criticism for their partner’s performance on the field, which is totally insane.

Sakshi Dhoni, wife of Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni, recently opened up about side-effects of marrying a cricketer. She also spoke about various sacrifices that a cricketer’s wife has to make in order to adapt to this huge change in their lives.
In a video posted on CSK’s YouTube channel, Sakshi says they are proud of their husband’s achievements because, in a country with a population of over 1.3 billion, only a select few are able to pursue cricket professionally.

“We are proud because they are where they are because they've been chosen out of billions of people and they are in the game that people love, especially in India,” Sakshi says in the video.
Reflecting on how her life changed after she tied the knot with the former India captain, she says that she had to adapt and change according to her husband’s wish and make sure that she was not stressing him out.
    View this post on Instagram
“General life changes when you get married and your husband goes to an office. But our husbands go to play sports. So I think you just have to adapt and change according to how they expect you to be and not just sort of stress them out,” she explained.
Since they are under constant spotlight, Sakshi says  it’s hard for them to be themselves and act like a normal individual because they are always judged by the public.
    View this post on Instagram
“You don't have your private space and you cannot be like how you are basically in front of cameras right now. Some people are comfortable in front of the camera, some people are not. And especially with the public, they tend to judge you, like especially when you are a cricketer's wife. Even when you are doing something like hanging out with friends and they do talk,” she added, explaining the consequences of marrying a famous cricketer.
All the points Sakshi has raised are legitimate but the day she married one of the legends of the game, she knew what she was getting into. This was the life she chose for herself.

The massive success of Sukumar’s Pushpa: The Rise in Hindi has once again ignited the debate around South Indian films taking over Bollywood.
The debate first started back in 2017 post the gigantic blockbuster that was Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.
Now with the nationwide phenomenon that the Allu Arjun starrer became and at the same time Hindi films failed left, right and centre, many on social media claimed that Bollywood has taken a backseat.

Akshay Kumar, who is returning to the mass genre with Bachchhan Paandey was asked at a recent press conference if South Cinema, particularly, Tollywood has taken over Bollywood and if his upcoming film will be an answer to the naysayers who say Bollywood doesn’t make massy content anymore.

Akshay responded, “Aisa nahi hai. Abhi Gangubai release hui woh bhi chal rahi hai. ()”
The journo then interrupted saying that Gangubai Kathiawadi belonged to a different genre and Bachchhan Paandey is a masala action genre, which is said to be a rarity in Bollywood.
Akshay then replied, “Nahin aisa nahin hai. Yahaan content bhi chalta hai, massy bhi chalta hai, commercial bhi chalta hai. Massy ke andar content daalo toh aur sone pe suhaga wali baat hoti hai. Toh sabhi chal rahe hain. Balki humko toh yehi prarthana karni chahiye sabki film chale yaar. The theatres should be filled to capacity, that’s what I believe in. I’m not one of those people who will sit down and literally think ki yeh chal rahi hai yeh nahi chal rahi hai – I just feel like everything should work. (That’s not true. In Bollywood, content, massy, commercial all sorts of genres work. If there is a good blend of content and massy cinema then that’s even huge. I just pray that all films should work.)”

He further added how the film industry was on the back foot for two and a half years due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and so, many films are stuck and the interest in them is increasing with each passing day.

He concluded saying, “Let’s not analyse too much and I hope the films run and that’s important for us.”
