    The Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to begin in a few months time and this season is going to be a bigger one as two new franchises are set to join the fray in a bid to fight for the trophy. Lucknow Super Giants and Ahmedabad are the two new teams set to make their debut in the 15th edition of IPL. 
    All the 10 franchises have already named their retention list ahead of the mega auction that is set to be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. 
    Virat Kohli, who captained Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for nine years, had relinquished the skipper’s role in the IPL after stepping down as captain of the Indian team in the T20I format.

    RCB retained their former skipper but they would want to rope in a leader at the mega auction in a few weeks time. Chennai Super Kings will be captained by MS Dhoni but it might be his last season and the team management would be looking to pick his potential successor so that he gets to rub shoulders with Dhoni before taking the franchise forward from next season onwards.
    Proven leaders in the league like David Warner, Shreyas Iyer and Eoin Morgan will be up for grabs as all the 10 IPL teams will fight it out at the auction table to get the best possible squad for their franchise. 
    Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants and Ahmedabad have announced their captains ahead of the IPL mega auction but other teams are still in search of a leader and with this being a mega auction, we could see some crazy bids being made at the auction table.

    With Kohli stepping down as the captain of the RCB franchise, the team will be looking to hire a player who can take them forward in the league. Opening batter David Warner, who has won an IPL title with SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the past, and young Shreyas Iyer who led Delhi Capitals to the final in the 13th edition could be on the minds of RCB as they prepare strategies for the mega auction. 
    It was Warner’s SRH who denied Kohli his first IPL title in 2016 as the defeated RCB in the final by eight runs in a high-scoring summit clash. If RCB gets Warner, we might get to see Warner and Kohli open the batting for their side and that promises to be an extraordinary combination.

    CSK’s talismanic skipper MS Dhoni had cleared the air over his ability for the 15th edition of the IPL. The former India skipper also mentioned that he wishes to play his final IPL game at Chepauk.
    Dhoni’s last season with the bat wasn’t a good one and he himself knows that the upcoming season could be his last as a CSK player. The Chennai-based franchise might go shopping for a youngster like Shreyas Iyer who has the leadership qualities and age on his side. To top it all, he will be groomed by one of the most successful captains in Indian cricket’s history MS Dhoni.

    SRH retained Kane Williamson, who was named captain after they sacked David Warner as their leader, ahead of the mega auction. However, Williamson’s own performances were below par as he scored just 266 runs in 10 matches. 
    The team finished at the bottom of the points table after just three wins from 14 matches. They would be looking for an alternate for Williamson if the Kiwi star’s own performance dip during the course of the tournament.

    KL Rahul left Punjab Kings after leading the side for two seasons without tasting any success. Under his leadership, Punjab Kings twice failed to reach the playoffs in the league. Rahul has been appointed as the captain of the new franchise, Lucknow Super Giants and that leaves Punjab Kings without a leader. 
    The Punjab-based franchise have the biggest purse among all the 10 teams for the upcoming mega auction and they are expected to go all out for a player whom they feel could lead their side to their maiden IPL title.

    Eoin Morgan struggled with the bat throughout the last IPL season but he did manage to take KKR to the playoffs. However, the Kolkata-based franchise decided against retaining him ahead of the mega auction. 
    KKR would be looking to get the services of a leader who can go on to help the team lift the trophy for the third time in their history.

    As per the latest buzz, Katrina will be spending Valentine's Day with Salman Khan. Yes, you read that right! Reportedly, the Delhi schedule of Tiger 3 begins on February 14. According to a Pinkvilla report, Salman is set to resume shooting for the third part of the Tiger franchise from February 5 in Mumbai at the Yash Raj Films studios. This small schedule will be followed by a final big outdoor 15-day schedule from February 14 in the national capital. 
    Revealing the same, a source informed the portal, "Salman will roar as Tiger by resuming the last big schedule of the film from this Saturday at YRF and then the biggest on-screen pair in Indian cinema, Salman-Katrina will shoot the crucial Delhi schedule from Feb 14th onwards. YRF is going to maintain supremely strict covid protocols as they have been following since the pandemic started. Salman and Katrina will mostly be traveling to Delhi on the 12th or 13th morning".
    Amid the ongoing pandemic, YRF will be following all the COVID-19 protocols while shooting in Delhi and a big security team too will be at the disposal.

    Talking about the shoot, the source further added, "It is a very crucial schedule for the film and Salman-Kat will be filming for around 10-12 days in the national capital. The duo is among the most popular stars of Hindi cinema, and all the efforts are being taken to have a strong security team in place to keep the shooting details under wraps".
    This update will surely make VicKat fans sad. However, we never know, Vicky might give a surprise to Katrina by reaching Delhi to be with her on Valentine's Day. Well, only time will tell. 
    For the unversed, Tiger 3 is among the most-awaited films of 2022. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the action film features Emraan Hashmi as the antagonist. It is touted to be made with an estimated budget of Rs 350 crore.

    Over the last few months, the off-field controversies have hogged more limelight compared to Team India’s on-field performances.
    A lot has been written about how the alleged fallout between Virat Kohli and the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly led to his unceremonious departure from Team India’s leadership positions.

    Not just the fans, even cricket experts have varied opinions on the matter, with some blaming Kohli and others questioning Ganguly and other BCCI dignitaries.

    This whole saga has taken over Indian cricket so much so that no cricket conversation is deemed complete unless the experts address this issue.

    Sharing his views on this whole issue, cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir described it as an “internal battle” between two former skippers of Indian cricket team Kohli and Ganguly.

    The southpaw said it wasn’t that big of an issue as portrayed by the media. He opined that this matter could’ve been easily solved internally through mutual discussions.

    “I think this could’ve been sorted behind closed doors as well. It was an internal battle. It was a great TRP for a lot of news channels but that’s fine. If you go to the depth of it, the matter can easily be solved. It’s not that big of an issue,” said Gambhir while speaking on Times Now.

    After the BCCI announced its decision to relieve Kohli to ODI captaincy, the fans were already upset. His  fans began criticising the BCCI boss and the selectors for dishing out an unfair treatment to the modern-day legend.

    However, their anger reached the boiling point after the 33-year-old cricketer publicly contradicted the BCCI chief during an explosive press conference and they started accusing ‘Prince of Kolkata’ of serving lies to the public.

    Responding to this ODI captaincy issue, Gambhir said he wasn’t surprised with the BCCI’s decision. In fact, the day Kohli decided to step down from the T20I role, he should’ve known that he would have to let go of ODI captaincy as well, as the selectors wouldn’t agree to two white-ball skippers.

    As far as his Test captaincy was concerned, Gambhir described it as his “personal decision” and said that he would have loved to see him leading the red-ball side for a little bit longer.

    “Honestly, I don't see any controversy which was created. Talking about captaincy, I think Virat should have continued as red-ball captain. But for white-ball captaincy, once he decided to let go of T20I captaincy, he had to let go of ODI captaincy as well. The BCCI and the selectors were right from the white-ball point of view. But it was Virat's personal decision to step down from Test captaincy, which he should have continued,” he elaborated.

    The moment we start thinking that this controversy is over, a new development pops up. Ganguly is once again in headlines after a video went viral on social networking sites where two journalists from Aaj Tak could be seen berating him forcefully attending the selection meetings and interfering in Team India’s selection matters.

    Gambhir’s statement confirms that the fallout between Kohli and Ganguly wasn’t a work of fiction. It would have been better had both these strong-headed individuals shown some maturity and solved their differences internally.

    Touted as one of the most iconic films of all time, the 1972 film The Godfather, based on the Mario Puzo novel of the same name has inspired a hell lot of films and TV shows around the world. 
    In India itself, we have had many mainstream films taking inspiration from the Marlon Brando and Al Pacino starrer.

    Now, a new series will take us behind the scenes of how that iconic film was conceived, pitched and eventually made by Academy Award winning producer Albert S. Ruddy. 

    Titled The Offer, referring to The Godfather’s iconic dialogue, “I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse”, the series features Miles Teller of Whiplash fame in the lead role of Albert S Ruddy. 
    The series also features Dan Fogler as Francis Ford Coppola, the director of The Godfather.

    Other actors in the show include Matthew Goode as Robert Evans, Juno Temple as Bettye McCartt, Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Colombo, Burn Gorman as Charles Bluhdorn, Patrick Gallo as Mario Puzo and Colin Hanks as Barry Lapidus. 

    The teaser trailer shows how Teller’s Albert faced difficulties in greelighting The Godfather from all quarters. Be it the studio, the people around him and even the Italian mafia of the time.
