    It is a super proud moment for India as two big releases of last year, Jai Bhim and Mohanlal's Marakkar: Arabikdalinte Simham have made it to the list of movies eligible for being nominated for the ‘best feature film’ Oscar.

    While the final nominations will be announced on 8 February, it is a big leap for Indian cinema’s changing phase which has moved beyond the borders of Bollywood and Hindi cinema.
    Suriya’s Jai Bhim received a thunderous reception from the audience and it tackled the topic of brutality and injustice faced by the Vanniyar community. The movie also stars Lijomol Jose and Manikandan in pivotal roles.

    Directed by Priyadarshan, Mohanlal's Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham has already won three National Awards. The movie is based on Kunjali Marakkar, the admiral of the fleet of Zamorin. The film also stars Keerthy Suresh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Manju Warrier and Siddique.

    Fans of both the movies are beyond excited.

    Ranbir Kapoor's Rockstar film was truly in a class of its own.

    The movie, directed by Imitiaz Ali, not only had an amazing plot, but also made use of Ranbir's overall acting versatility, making his role of Jordan one of his finest roles to date.

    Rockstar was not only a great movie for Ranbir's career but also was the perfect debut for actress Nargis Fakri, who played the role of Heer opposite Ranbir.

    Now, while it's been more than a decade since the release of the film, both Ranbir and Nargis' roles will forever be etched in our memories.

    However, did you know that the role of Heer was actually written for Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone?

    It was reported that director Imtiaz Ali originally had Deepika in his mind and wanted her to star in the film.

    Recalling the incident, Imitiaz, revealed what went down when he first met Deepika for the same.

    Imitiaz, who had written a heartfelt note for Deepika on her website, had revealed, “She (Deepika) got off the car at the hotel porch and looked at me. I immediately knew that this is the girl I have come to meet. She also immediately knew that I am the director she had come to meet because she had those eyes, that looked as if they know.”

    It was reported that Deepika was to make her debut in Rockstar, however, there was a change of fate.
    “None of Deepika’s movies had been released till then. I had come to meet her for Rockstar. I wanted her for Rockstar but the movie did not get made till many years later. I worked with her in other movies. Many things happened over many years at many places, all of which I might forget, but I will never forget the girl who stepped out of the car at the hotel and looked at me as if she knew.” said Imitiaz.
    Well, later Deepika made her debut alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om, and the rest is history.
    It had also been earlier reported, that instead of Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor was also one of the choices to play the role of Jordan in Rockstar.
    While Shahid will be seen in the cricket film Jersey, Deepika, on the other hand, will star in her upcoming film Gehraiyaan alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday.

    Comedy of errors – there is no better word to describe the incident that transpired between KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant during India’s innings in the second ODI against South Africa at Boland Park, Paarl.
    With the series on the line, everyone expected the visitors to bounce back in style and put up a strong performance in order to keep the series alive.

    But the touring party almost shot itself in the foot when a huge mix-up between Rahul and Pant provided South Africa with a golden opportunity to tighten their grip on the proceedings.
    India had already lost two in-form batters in Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli within a span of seven balls and would have lost their skipper as well, had the South African fielders not decided to be too generous to come to their rescue.

    In the 15th over of the innings, the two Indian batters had a horrible mix-up and were left stranded at the same end. After pushing the ball to the on-side, Pant immediately called for a quick single but rather than looking at his partner he took his eyes off him and almost led to his dismissal.
    By the time the wicketkeeper-batter could relay his message, Rahul had already reached the striker’s end. Eleven out of 10 times, it would have been out but the Indian captain had the rub of the green and that saved his wicket. There was no other way to explain that.

    What could have been the simplest of run outs, turned out to be one of the greatest escapes of all-time, all thanks to two Proteas players’ brain-fade moments within a couple of seconds.
    The Proteas skipper collected the ball fair and square and threw it towards Keshav Maharaj at the bowler’s end, who had all the time in his life to clip the bails. All he had to do was collect the ball cleanly but guess what -- he failed to do just that.

    Besides his family and fans, Sushant Singh Rajput's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty too remembered the late Bollywood star on the occasion of his birthday anniversary today (21 January). Rhea, who was in a relationship with Sushant, took to social media and posted an unseen throwback video in which she's seen posing with the Kedarnath star.

    Sushant can be seen goofing around in the video with Rhea in the gym area. Along with the clip, she added Pink Floyd's song Wish You Were Here and posted it on Instagram with the caption, "Miss you so much". 

    The comment section is filled with heart emojis and "miss you" Sushant messages. A user wrote, "Tere jaisa Bollywood main koi nahi yaara". Another Instagram user commented, "Yaadein yaad aati hai (with crying emojis)". "We are really sorry for the loss of a terrific actor and as well as a terrific personality. @rhea_chakraborty he is in a better place and hope he is in peace," read another comment.

    For the unversed, on June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra home. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigated his death and questioned Rhea, her family members, and Sushant's staff. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Rhea and her brother Showik in a separate narcotics investigation. For more than a month, the actress was held in Mumbai's Byculla Jail. 

    Rhea was granted bail in a drugs case related to Rajput's death by the Bombay High Court in October 2020. The court rejected the argument that celebs should be treated harshly in such cases to "send out a message".  
    On the career front, Rhea was last seen in Chehra co-starring Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi.

    After Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, filmmaker SS Rajamouli is returning with another grand spectacle that is RRR starring NTR Jr & Ram Charan. 
    This time, he also roped in two major Bollywood stars - Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn. 
    While it is the first time SS Rajamouli has collaborated with Alia for a film, contrary to the popular belief, this isn’t his first collaboration with Ajay Devgn. 
    Almost a decade before RRR, and a few years before he found nationwide fame and acclaim with Baahubali films, SS Rajamouli was one of the most talked-about filmmakers in Telugu cinema and had directed a high on VFX film with a CGI fly as its lead, Eega.

    After the film’s massive success in Telugu, SS Rajamouli decided to release it in Hindi and present it to a nationwide audience. For the Hindi version, he got in touch with Ajay Devgn and roped him in as the narrator of the film along with his wife and actress Kajol.

    Talking about getting Ajay onboard, Rajamouli had told Indian Express, “The film opens with a father telling his daughter a story and I wanted an actor like Ajay Devgn for who the audience has regards as a nice family man. And even though he agreed immediately I made him watch the film. The best compliment was when after the screening he said that he would like to show the film to his children.”

    Talking about the tribute, SS Rajamouli had said in a statement, “For a film like Makkhi, it is very important that the audience leave the theatre with warmth in their heart and a smile on their face. So we came up with the idea of making the makkhi dance for the end credits. But makkhi riding on two houseflies is the cherry on top.”

    Shakun Batra's Gehraiyaan, featuring Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa in lead roles, is one of the most-anticipated films of 2022. The makers recently released the trailer which is getting a positive response from moviegoers. The film is slated to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on February 11 and fans are eagerly waiting to watch it.

    While we can watch it all day with our jaws on the floor, it turns out it actually is possible to master, even for lesser mortals like us. With that in mind, let us focus on how to actually do flying push ups like Tovino here, in 4 easy steps.

    1. Take your strongest pushup position, with hands and feet on the floor, and focus on what stance 'feels' the strongest.

    2. Brace your core. Imagine someone will punch you in the stomach. Or the ground beneath will start crumbling or caving down. Then close your eyes and take a deep breath.

    3. Descend a little, bending your elbows, till your chest almost touches the ground. Take one more deep breath if required, and come up with explosive force by pushing the ground beneath you with both your palms and your feet.

    4. Make sure you touch the ground back with all fours, rather than just falling on your abdomen. While landing, keep your joints loose instead of tight, so as to absorb the impact of the fall - like a cat's jump. That will also let you descend back smoothly, for the second rep.

    In the first match of the ongoing Legends League Cricket 2022, the India Maharajas squad took on the Asia Lions and had a magnificent start to the tournament following a 6 wicket victory backed by Yusuf Pathan’s 80-run inning off just 40 balls. 
    However, the credit of the story goes to Stuart Binny, the former Indian cricketer who removed Sri Lankan cricketer Tillakaratne Dilshan for 5 runs and gave the Indian cricket team a strong start in the match.

    The Indian ‘legends’ squad help the Asia team to 175 runs for 7 wickets, with Manpreet Gony picked up 3 wickets and became India’s highest wicket-taker. Irfan Pathan, who picked up two wickets, also stole the show with his outstanding effort. Munaf Patel and Binny both took one wicket.
    And despite all the early achievements made by the Indian squad, all eyes were on Binny once again in the second half of the match when he walked onto the field alongside Naman Ojha as the batting openers for the India Maharajas. He even managed to strike a four and scored 10 runs before he was dismissed by Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar with a catch by Upul Tharanga.

    Eden Hazard turned back the clock as he scored a late winner for Real Madrid coming off the bench in the 90th minute with the game level at 0-0. 
    Real Madrid players took the field in a blue away kit and with the game level at 1-1, Hazard rounded Elche’s goalkeeper Axel Werner and found the back of the net to secure a 115th-minute winner for the LaLiga leaders.
    To sum up Hazard’s time with Real Madrid, it was just his first goal of the ongoing season. There have been talks doing the rounds on social media that the Spanish giants are looking for a suitable offer for Hazard. 
    However, after his heroics in Valencia, the Real Madrid management might be thinking twice before selling the Belgium star.

    It was a day to remember for Real Madrid fans as not only their team qualified for the quarter-final but their arch-rivals Barcelona conceded a late penalty and lost 2-3 to Athletic Club and crashed out of the Spanish football tournament.

    The movie has been the talk of the town for years, and will finally hit the theatres this year. Moreover, it will be a proper star affair as it will have Nagarjuna, Amitabh Bachchan, in even Shah Rukh Khan in a big cameo role.

    This pretty much guarantees that Ranbir's film will honestly have a good turnout in theatres or even OTT platforms later on.

    However, other than that, it looks like Ranbir is also coming out with his new film called Animal, which will be helmed by none other than Kabir Singh director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

    As per reports, Animal will be a gangster drama film which will be unlike any other film made in a space like that before.

    The movie, which is set to release next year, will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, and Vanga.

    Ranbir is also set to star alongside Shraddha Kapoor in Luv Ranjan's rom-com film.
    Earlier, Bhushan Kumar spoke to Pinkvilla about both the films and even likened Animal to Kabir Singh. “We have started a Ranbir Kapoor film with Luv Ranjan and then, there’s another film that we are doing with him called Animal. It’s directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and we begin shooting in March. Animal will be like what Kabir Singh was. One relatable story that happens in our society with Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor in lead,” said Bhushan.

    Among active players, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are two of the biggest names in Indian cricket and their on-field heroics has resulted in them earning a crazy fan-following on various social networking sites.
    While Kohli is the most popular Indian on Instagram with 180 million followers, India’s new white-ball skipper is followed by only 21.3 millions followers.

    But things are different on the micro-blogging site. With 65 million followers, the former skipper is still way ahead than his 34-year-old successor but unlike Instagram his figures are much better as he enjoys a following of 41 million.

    Their popularity means that every news that involves them ends up making huge headlines and their fans also contribute massively in making the news go viral by sharing it on social media.

    But there’s also a drawback to this insane popularity as fans of both these modern-day greats often try to pull each other down on social media.

    Take for example when Rohit was ruled out of the South Africa tour due to a last-minute hamstring injury, Kohli fans had trolled him massively and made fun of his fragile fitness.

    Similarly, when Kohli was sacked from ODI captaincy, the so-called ‘Hitman’ supporters celebrated his removal as if India had won a World Cup.

    The animosity between the two groups was witnessed once again when the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the ICC Test Team of the Year.
    Three Indian players, opener Rohit Sharma, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, found a place in the team led by New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson.
    Kohli, who recently stepped down from the red-ball captaincy, missed out on a place in the Test team after enduring one of the worst seasons of his career.

    It was a memorable year for Team India but Kohli's individual performance saw a massive dip as he averaged just over 28, scoring 536 runs in 19 innings. From a personal point of view, it was a year that he would like to forget ASAP.

    After the team was announced, instead of celebrating that three Indians were named in the side, Kohli and Rohit supporters started pulling each other down through their hateful comments.

    While Rohit fans mocked Kohli for missing out on a place in the ICC Test Team of the Year, Kohli supporters responded by saying that their favorite player had ruled international cricket for the last one decade and the 2021 season was just an aberration.

    The Amar Jawan Jyoti, also known as the ‘eternal flame’, was lit in 1972 after the 1971 war, at the India Gate, to honour the soldiers who laid their lives during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.  
    It was inaugurated by the then prime minister, Indira Gandhi, on January 26, 1972, and from then to now, had been lit for 50 long years.

    Hailed as a symbol of strength, courage and a true and immortal soldier, the Amar Jawan Jyoti has always been able to extract the true patriotic emotion of every Indian. Perhaps, that is why, when news about it being reportedly 'extinguished' made rounds on the internet, it sparked a big row.  
    The centre had recently made a decision to merge the eternal flame of the Amar Jawan Jyoti with the National War Memorial on Friday. A decision that enraged a lot of people, including leaders from the opposition.

    The National War Memorial, which was built by the NDA Government in the India Gate complex and was inaugurated in 2019, has the names of all the Indian defence personnel who lost their lives in the many operations; from the 1947-48 Indo-Pak war to the recent Galwan valley clash with Chinese troops. Names of many other bravehearts who also lost lives in counter-terrorist operations are also included in the memorial.
