    Swara Bhasker has probably now become good at ignoring trolls completely because the hate she has invited this time because of her tweet is on a different level. We all know that Afghanistan’s Kabul has been taken over by the Taliban and it’s disturbing to see the visuals coming in from the country.
    Swara, however, is under the radar of trolls after she tweeted, “We can't be okay with Hindutva terror & be all shocked & devastated at Taliban terror & We can't be chill with #Taliban terror and then be all indignant about #Hindutva terror! Our humanitarian & ethical values should not be based on the identity of the oppressor or oppressed.”

    Following her tweet, things escalated quickly and Swara is now in trouble after a Twitter user Ashutosh J Dubey said he had filed a police complaint against the Raanjhanaa actress for "promoting enmity between several groups on grounds of religion & doing acts prejudicial to the maintenance of peace."

    Well, she did rephrase her tweet but the damage was already done. She said, “Let me rephrase! The #Taliban doesn’t deserve our nuance .. notwithstanding American Imperialism which is wrong and must be critiqued. But the Taliban does not deserve nuance. Recognize their many many evils and wrongdoings!”

    Apple may finally be forced to abandon the Lightning cable under new legislation that is being proposed by the European Commission. According to a report by Reuters, the European Commission is looking to establish one universal charger for smartphones and other devices. The European Commission is looking to make USB-C the standard charging port for all smartphones in the union.

    This will effectively force Apple to ditch the Lightning cable in 27 countries, however the Cupertino giant is strongly opposing the legislation. Apple says that a common charger would lead to an “unprecedented amount of electronic waste'' as “hundreds of millions of active devices and accessories [are] used by their European customers.”

    Here’s where Apple’s argument doesn’t make sense — the company has already launched devices such as the iPad Pro, Powerbeats Pro and MacBook laptops that already use USB-C ports. This also doesn’t mean that Apple has to continue using the Lightning port for future iPhones just because older customers are still using devices with Lightning cables. Most electronic companies have already switched to USB-C as a standard with Apple being the only exception. 
    Electronic waste has become a great concern in many countries which is the main reason why the European Commission is pushing for universally standard chargers. The legislation is up for presentation and still being drafted according to Reuters. Last year, EU Parliament lawmakers voted  “overwhelmingly in favour of a common charger” for both convenience and environmental benefits.

    If the legislation passes, Apple will be the hardest hit by the proposed legislation. Apple will be forced to either switch to USB-C or micro-USB chargers considering most non-Apple products have that connector. It could also be possible that it may completely change how we charge iPhones. 

    Apple has been rumoured to be working on a port-less charger or a wireless-only charging device which might be the next natural step of progression. It’s still not certain whether Apple will switch to a different charging port or abandon it completely until the EU commission comes to a final decision.

    In the pre-pandemic days, when gyms and fitness centers felt safer, desi gyms were my favourite fitness haunt. Over there I interacted with a wide variety of individuals. But most were absolutely shredded men devoted to bodybuilding. With utterly defined biceps, triceps and obliques, these men felt as if they were on a mission to have the most aesthetically pleasing bodies out there. Some of these men were gentle beasts who had the kindest demeanour and would have no qualms in helping an absolute newbie like me.
    With their support, I graduated to lifting fairly respectable weights, compared to what the rest were getting up to.

    Bodybuilders are usually the most common patrons at these gyms, however I found out that beyond bodybuilders, there was another class of fitness enthusiasts whose sole intention was obliterating lifting records as they come.

    They’re undoubtedly on top of the fitness food chain. Unfettered by care for aesthetics, a powerlifter's focus stays unwavered in front of their lofty lifting goals. The world of powerlifting is an ecosystem of its own after all, and they’ve all got their own personal limits to exceed.

    My illusion of badassery had been shattered; I was in total awe of powerlifters and their incredible physical feats. If I ever got into trouble with someone, I knew it won’t be the body builders I’d call for backup - powerlifters all the way. 

    Ultimate RayI chanced upon this video of a certain powerlifter who achieved the impossible by lifting a mammoth 1080 lbs.

    Ray Williams. That’s the name of the man who casually obliterated squatting records with his One Rep Max of 490 kilos or 1080 lbs. That’s almost equivalent to lifting 6 Hrithik Roshans together. If these Hrithiks were someone congealed into a singular mass for lifting purposes. 
    Ray is fondly called ‘Little Mark Henry’ by his peers because the former wrestler is believed to have squatted an unbelievable 933 lbs back when he was in high school. 
    Breaking Records What makes it incredible is that it’s the heaviest squat ever without using any sort of support via equipment or other means. There usually are special kinds of suits and knee wraps that can aid a lifter in lifting heavier weights, but that doesn’t fall under the category Ray Williams competed in. Ray needed no such support, or help. 

    Back in 2013, Ray had to limit his attempt to a relatively measly 905 lbs (410 kilos), "I was wanting to hit a thousand, but they didn’t have enough 100lb plates." 
    A Little Help From RedditThe gym he trained at didn’t have enough plates for him to tackle the 1000 lbs mark either, so instead of giving up, he started increasing his reps with whatever weights they did have available. If you’re curious to know, that’s multiple reps at 770 lbs.

    Moved by his determination to breach the 1000lbs limit, redditors from r/fitness came together to buy him the necessary equipment in order for him to attain his superhuman goals.

    ConclusionThe story of Ray Williams is one of those rare, genuinely feel-good tales where history is made by an individual, with love and support from strangers across the world. Record breakers exist in our country too, it’s not impossible to believe that Indian fitness enthusiasts can achieve such feats as well, but what’s usually lacking is infrastructure and support for their dreams.

    The makers of the upcoming movie Bhoot Police have just dropped the trailer for the film. The film stars Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Yami Gautam, and Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles. If you have seen the trailer, you would agree that it gives Stree vibes. It’s a horror-comedy and the whole idea behind catching a different type of ‘pretaatma hitchkandi’ is surely intriguing.
    In the trailer, we see Arjun Kapoor play a character called Chiraunji while Saif Ali Khan is seen as Vibhooti. They are fake ‘tantriks’ or ghostbusters whose lives are turned upside down when they meet their love interests played by Jacqueline and Yami respectively. Yami’s character tells them about a bhoot in her village and that’s when they finally understand that supernatural elements do exist.

    People have given the trailer a big thumbs up and are appreciating Saif’s comic timing and the unique concept.

    Talking at a media interaction, Arjun gave an insight into his character and said, “While I don’t believe in ghosts and stories about witches, I really liked the film’s script. When Rameshji (producer Ramesh Taurani) shared the script with me, I told him about this, and he said 90% of India believes in ghosts and witches, and only 10% don’t. So my character will be relatable to 90% of the audience, and Saif’s will be to only 10%, so I am happy! (chuckles).”

    Bhoot Police director Pavan Kirpalani had said in a statement, "I am really thrilled to have Saif and Arjun come together for this entertaining feature. Both of them will be seen bringing their trademark fun elements to the brand new avatars they will portray in this film..."
    Bhoot Police was earlier scheduled for a theatrical release on September 10, however, due to the ongoing pandemic, it will now release digitally on OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar.

    Skipper Virat Kohli is hogging all the limelight ever since India defeated England in the second Test at the Lord’s Cricket Ground to go 1-0 up in the five-match series. With this win, Kohli has once again established his position as one of the best captains in world cricket and he deserves all the praise that he is receiving.

    While his leadership skills have made everyone a fan, one should not forget that Kohli is going through a lean patch for quite some time now. His failure with the bat in the first two Test matches has been a major cause of concern for the visitors, something they would love to sort out before heading into the third Test in Leeds.
    Not just fans but even legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaksar are worried because Kohli has started making the same mistakes which he made during his first tour of England way back in 2014.

    Kohli has played three innings so far on this tour and the mode of dismissal has been the same on each occasion -- an outside edge straight to the wicket-keeper or the slip cordon.

    ‘Master Blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar feels Kohli is struggling because his anxiety levels are high due to slow start to the tour and his mind is forcing him to overcompensate his movements inside the crease that we generally don’t expect of a player of his calibre.
    “Virat hasn’t had a great start. It is the mind that leads to technical errors and if the start isn’t good you start thinking about a lot of things. Because anxiety levels are high you tend to over compensate your movements,” Tendulkar told PTI in an exclusive interview.

    The current Test cricket roster for the Indian side is being touted as one of the best sides to have played in this format, in the history of the game, especially because of the kind of feats they have achieved as a unit, barring the WTC final (and we won’t talk about it because we hate dealing with heavy losses).

    Having said that, those who love to criticise the Indian captain did not see any way in which Kohli contributed towards India’s winning cause. Instead, they went on to harp about how the skipper has been struggling to put up numbers on the scoreboard for a long time now and how he ended up dropping a crucial and simple Jos Buttler catch which could have cost them the match.

    Also, to support these charities, the actress also sells the clothes that she has worn before. The actress also keeps putting up couture and non-couture items in the Live Laugh Love website, where people can buy the clothes on sale on the website. 
    However, recently the actress was heavily trolled for putting up two specific clothing items for sale.

    The first was a pin tuck top that she wore for her Houseful co-star and actress Jiah Khan’s funeral. The second was a long Kurti Deepika wore at Priyanka Chopra’s father, Dr. Ashok Chopra’s prayer meet. 
    These two items of clothing extremely infuriated her fans and they called it a cheap act to sell these clothes.

    England captain Joe Root has been outstanding with the bat in the ongoing five-Test series against India, amassing 386 runs at an outstanding average of 128.67 in just four innings. The same can’t be said about his captaincy as he hasn’t been able to replicate the same magic while leading the side.

    In fact, some of his tactics during the second Test at Lord’s have earned him sharp criticism from fans and experts alike, including England’s legendary cricketer Geoffrey Boycott, who has come hard at Root, describing his tactics as utterly ‘stupid’.
    Going into the final day at Lord’s, the hosts were clearly in a position of strength and they further strengthened their chances of winning the match when they dismissed Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma early on Day 5.

    Having lost eight wickets for 209 runs, the visitors were on the backfoot because their tailenders are not known for their batting skills. Everyone expected English fast bowlers to walk over India’s lower-order in no time and set up an easy run chase for themselves.

    However, instead of trying to get Indian batsmen out, Root asked his bowlers to go after the Indian fast bowlers, especially Jasprit Bumrah, with a barrage of short-pitch deliveries -- a tactic which would eventually bring him nothing but shame.

    The reason why England decided to attack Bumrah was because he had dished out bouncers after bouncers at James Anderson when he came out to bat in their first innings. Root wanted to give Bumrah a taste of his own medicine but his move backfired completely as he and Shami stitched a record unbeaten partnership of 89 runs for the ninth wicket, bringing India right back in the game.

    Surprised with England’s game plan, Boycott slammed Joe Root’s stupid tactics for the embarrasing loss they suffered at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. He blamed Root for letting his emotions get the better of himself, allowing the match to slip away.

    “This Test match has proven two things. Firstly, if you are stupid, you do not deserve to win Test matches. As much as we love Joe Root for his magnificent batting, he cocked up with his tactics,” Boycott wrote in his column for The Telegraph.

    “Secondly, England cannot keep relying on Joe for all their runs. There has to be an improvement from the top three very soon because it is getting beyond a joke,” he added.
    “Joe had been doing well with his field placings and captaincy but seeing Jasprit Bumrah at the crease was like a red rag to a bull. He encouraged Mark Wood to just pepper him with fast short balls. It is obvious the England captain and some of his players wanted payback for the working over Bumrah gave James Anderson in the first innings,” said Boycott.

    “Tempers were frayed. Heated words were exchanged as England seemed more intent on hitting Bumrah and Mohammad Shami instead of getting them out."

    “The tail swiped and edged. The field spread out on both sides of the wickets to stop the run scoring and England suffered the embarrassment of India declaring,” he wrote.

    Unlike Root, Indian skipper Virat Kohli was more focused on winning the match than taking revenge against England players. Kohli might be struggling with the bat right now but he hardly put any foot wrong on the final day. A lesson perhaps Root could learn.

    The TV series is said to keep the original characters - Archie, Reggie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica, Moose, Midge, Dilton, Big Ethel, and Miss Grundy - as they are while adding an Indian element to the show. While there are yet to be revelations around the project due to it being in the very nascent stages, the plot could revolve around school life in Mumbai or New Delhi. 

    Zoya has already worked on a successful New Delhi-based Amazon Prime Video show called Made In Heaven and well, we don't see why this should not work.

    Kareena has been making headlines for quite some time for demanding a whopping amount for the project. It is said that she has asked for Rs 12 crore for this movie as it is a longer commitment for her.

    Kareena still hasn't given her statement on this, but in a recent interview when the same topic came up, the actress did agree and shook her head when she was asked the fee.

    The anchor asked during the interview, "What next for Kareena Kapoor Khan? You have a film with Aamir Khan later this year, there was talk that you were getting ₹12 crore, you were asking for ₹12 crore, and other actresses came out in support of you, but I think that was fake news..." To this, Kareena responded subconsciously, it seems, and she shook her head while saying, "Yeah, yeah..."

    When this news came into the limelight, people felt a great deal of ire towards her in June. Twitter was flooded with offensive messages, and in fact, the hashtag, Boycott Kareena Kapoor Khan, was trending too. As per a few of them, the actress had hurt their religious beliefs for asking a raise to play the important role of Sita. Kareena received support from the industry as many female actors, including Priyamani, Taapsee Pannu, and Pooja Hegde, came forward. They said that women are often criticised for asking for a raise, but it is taken into consideration when men do it.

    Many actresses have been outspoken about this matter. Sonam Kapoor once said, "I think it is about time, as women, as actors, as artists that we get our due." Taapsee had also said in an interview, "You'll always read about this problem issue of hiked salary with women. But why not? She is one of the biggest female superstars we have in the country. If she commands a certain salary for her time, it's her job. Do you think any other mythological characters that are played by men, do you think they do it for free? I don't think so."

    Even SRK, for that matter, has been vocal about gender disparity in the industry.

    As per reports in Bollywood Hungama, Kareena has hiked her fee from at least Rs 6-8 crore to Rs 12 crore now. The movie would take around ten months to be made, which requires a considerable commitment. Even Saif has signed a mythological film, Adipurush, in which he would be essaying the role of Lankesh.

    Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is finally available to download on iOS devices from today as the South Korean company Krafton announced its availability on social media. “India Ka Game is now available on iOS,” the company said.

    Krafton announced earlier this week that the game had hit 50 million downloads on the Google Play Store in less than two months. The company also announced its plan to release the game for iPhone/iPad users. The company also gave in-game rewards such as the ‘Galaxy Messenger Set’ permanent outfit which will also be available for iOS players to redeem. 

    According to the App Store page, BGMI has a download size of 1.9GB and may have additional patch updates to download after launching the game. The App Store also reveals that the game tracks user content and usage data. The Apple App Store also recommends the game for players who are above the age of 17. 
    As per Krafton, BGMI had 2.4 million concurrent players in one month which have increased since then. Now the gaming company is gearing up to host the first-ever Battlegrounds Mobile India esports tournament next month. The company has not announced any details such as prize pool details and the registration process. Now that the iOS version of the game is available for download, Krafton is hoping to add more players to the player base.

    Due to its popularity, BGMI has also seen many cheaters and hackers flocking to the game which resulted in the company banning more than 3 lakh offenders. The accounts of the cheaters have been permanently banned, probably in preparation for the esports tournament. 

    It is worth pointing out that BGMI has already exceeded the number of players PUBG mobile had garnered before the game was banned. According to market estimates, PUBG mobile had a player base of 33 million, in India alone, which has now been surpassed by BGMI. 
    iPhone users can now download the game by visiting the App Store page here. Krafton recommends running the game on iPhone 6s or later devices, running iOS 9. However, for the best experience, Krafton asks iPhone users to update to iOS 15 for a smoother performance and gameplay experience.

    The realities of war have always been ugly. And anyone who says otherwise is blind to it. The Taliban’s takeover of Kabul, Afghanistan has effectively set the nation back by a few decades at the very least.

They’ve effectively abandoned countless innocent lives to the whims of the merciless terrorist organization, The Taliban.

    Tragic visuals of desperate Afghan youth, clinging on to the wheels of escaping aircrafts  have come to light, shocking the internet as a collective. Gut-wrenching stories of people awaiting their imminent fates at the hands of the Taliban have also resurfaced.

    One such story is that of the last Hindu priest in Kabul, Pandit Rajesh Kumar. As chaos ensues around him, with distressed Afghan citizens looking for refuge in other nations, Pandit Rajesh Kumar has decided to stand his ground, refusing to flee. It’s not for a lack of help being offered, either. He had several Hindu devotees asking him to escape with them, but he rebuffed their offers.

    "Some Hindus have urged me to leave Kabul & offered to arrange for my travel and stay.

    But my ancestors served this Mandir for hundreds of years. I will not abandon it. If Taliban kiIIs me, I consider it my Seva"

    Pandit Rajesh Kumar, who is in charge of the Rattan Nath Temple in Kabul said, "I will not abandon it (the temple). If Taliban kills me, I (will) consider it my Seva." His duty to his ancestral temple, where his elders served for hundreds of years, is a cause he’s willing to die for.

    Based on this video interaction from 2019, Pandit Rajesh Kumar has family members, including children, in Delhi.

    The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee President Manjinder Singh claimed that several Hindus and Sikhs had found refuge at the Karte Parwan Gurdwara, in Kabul after the distressing events that unfolded in Afghanistan. The DSGMC chief is in close contact with his counterpart from the Gurdwara Committee of Kabul, to ensure the safety of Hindus, Sikhs and other minority groups.  
    “I am in constant touch with the president of Gurdwara Committee of Kabul and the Sangat who have told me that 320 plus people, including 50 Hindus and 270 plus Sikhs, have taken refuge in Karte Parwan gurdwara in Kabul in wake of recent developments. Taliban leaders have met them and assured them of their safety. We are hopeful that Hindus and Sikhs would be able to live a safe and secure life despite political and military changes happening in Afghanistan," Sirsa said. 
    Our heart goes out to all affected by the human rights disaster unfolding in Afghanistan. It’s difficult to wish for peace with the Taliban involved, but we hope for a peaceful resolution to this cultural calamity that has befallen our Afghani brothers and sisters.

    The world is watching the plight of Afghanistan which has fallen to the terrorist group, Taliban, again after 20 years. It’s devastating to see  Afghans fleeing their homeland to save themselves from the wrath of the Taliban once again. However, there was a time when Afghans used to enjoy movies and music and were die-hard fans of Bollywood, too.

    Several Hindi movies have been shot in Afghanistan including Janasheen, Kabul Express, Dharmatma and the most popular one Khuda Gawah. It was the beginning of the Afghan civil war in 1992 when Indian superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi went to the war-ridden country to shoot Khuda Gawah.

    A few years ago, Amitabh Bachchan had shared a post on his Facebook account narrating what it was like to shoot in Afghanistan during the troubled times and how much love they received from the people despite everything going on in the country.

    He wrote, "I cherish the memory of the movie entirely for the trip where it was shot during extremely troubled times."

    “The Soviets had just left the country and power [was] handed over to Najibullah Ahmadzai who was a die-hard fan of popular Hindi cinema. He wanted to meet me and we were given [the] right royal treatment. We were treated as VVIP state guests at Mazare-e-Sharif and taken through the length and breadth of the incredibly beautiful country in airplanes with armed escorts,” he added.

    "We received the traditional warmth of the locals who have [a] passion for hospitality. We weren't allowed to stay in hotel... a family just vacated its home for us and moved to a smaller house,” he further wrote.

    He went on to narrate the terrifying situations where they had to face security issues in the probable war zone. "There were security problems, of course, with tanks and armed soldiers all over the streets.” However, it still remains his most memorable trip despite all that because of the love he and the whole Khuda Gawah team received from the Afghans. “Still, it's been the most memorable trip of my lifetime,” he wrote.
