Let's admit it! Horror movies, despite their countless jumpscares and sometimes repeated storylines of big families (mostly American) moving into newer, creepy-looking, gigantic homes, are surely a lot of fun when obviously not watched alone.

As viewers, it sure is easy for us to get back from the cinema halls or from our TV screens, knowing that the scary world of the supernatural is comfortably left behind. However, what are you supposed to do when the reel life ends up following you home in your real life?

Yes, there are numerous incidents where the horror movies that you've watched have apparently ended up having repercussions in real life, on the film sets as well outside of it, for the film's cast. Here's a list of creepy real-life incidents surrounding some horror movies:

    1. Exorcism Of Emily Rose (2005) © Lakeshore Entertainment
The Exorcism Of Emily Rose starring Dexter actor Jennifer Carpenter was one scary movie. The movie was based on the real-life case of Anneliese Michel, a 23-year-old German girl, who died due to starvation after having 67 exorcisms carried out on her to get rid of her demons.

But did you know that Carpenter, who played Emily in the movie, too had a very creepy encounter during the filming of the movie? According to reports, Carpenter's radio in her hotel room would mysteriously turn on and off on its own in the middle of the night.
What is even creepier is that it would keep playing Pearl Jam's song 'Alive', with the song phrase ‘I’m still alive’ getting repeated again and again.
(Damn! So not watching that movie again.)
    2. The Conjuring (2013) © Warner Bros
The Conjuring movie series has really become a fan favorite ever since the release of the first film. The movie too is based on the true story of the Perron family, who experienced supernatural horrors faced when they lived in their 18th-century farmhouse in Rhode Island from 1971 to 1980.

One of the important elements of the movie is that the actual Perron family members had involvement in the film as they visited sets during its filming.
However, Carolyn Perron, who was the mother, refused to step on the sets.
Why? Well, it was reported that when the Perron family had arrived on the set, there was apparently a strong wind that came up and swirled just around them, with the other crew members noticing that the trees opposite them were not moving at all. Guess we saw plenty of that in the movie as it is!
    3. The Omen (1976) © 20th Century Studios
Ask any true horror fan and you'll know that the 1976 American-British supernatural horror film is a classic. However, the film is not the only thing that is scary as it is the creepy incidents around it that will truly give you goosebumps.
Apparently, the film's lead actor Gregory Peck was struck by lightning when he was flying to the London set, with writer David Seltzer's plane too being struck by lightning three days later. Not only that, a zookeeper who had been on the set to tame baboons was mauled to death by a lion on the exact day when he finished his work with the film.
In what was another horrendous incident added to the list, the special effects director John Richardson and assistant Liz Moore, were involved in a serious car accident where Moore was decapitated in a similar fashion to one of the scenes in the movie.
    4. Insidious (2010) © Sony Pictures
Insidious was truly a very spooky film. No matter if you watch it the first time or the 20th, it really does end up unsettling you. Well, what'll unsettle you even further is the fact that the film's hospital set was home to some seriously creepy occurrences.

It was reported that many cast and crew members would feel unwell whenever they tried arriving on the set. Other than that, there were also claims that a buzzer from an unoccupied building floor would keep going off on its own.
    5. Poltergeist (1982) © MGM Studios
If you are a horror fan, you might have read about this as it truly is one of the most terrible pieces of trivia available to the public.

Child actor Heather Michele O'Rourke, who played the role of Carol Anne Freeling, a young suburban girl who becomes the conduit and target for supernatural entities in the film, died of cardiac arrest and septic shock at the age of 12.
The young star had gone on to reprise her role in the next two films in the series as well, all before her untimely death, with the third film releasing posthumously in 1988.
Well, it wasn't the only death in the franchise, as the actor who played her elder sister, Dominique Dunne, was reportedly murdered by an ex-boyfriend a day after the movie premiered.
    6. Ghost (1990) © Paramount Pictures
Okay. This film might not actually make its way in the list of top 10 horror movies just because of the fact it is a romantic fantasy thriller starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore, however, an incident around the film is something that continues to creep people out.

As per reports, the film's set was haunted by the ghost of Poltergeist child actor Heather O’Rourke. Many crew members claimed constantly hearing footsteps of an unseen figure as well laughter of a child who was nowhere to be seen.
Apparently, the movie had been shot on the same sound stage where O’Rourke had filmed scenes as a child actor.

If you’ve landed on this article for advice, it's safe to say there is no easy way to do it. Just like there is no easy way to break someone’s heart, there isn’t also one to break some bad or upsetting news to someone you love. And pointing out to your partner that they may have grown a little unhealthy during the course of this pandemic, falls right under that bucket.
You see, no matter how much of a place of concern you may be speaking from, if it has to do with pointing out someone’s flaw, it will sting. But one of the harder pills to swallow in a relationship is to know when to speak up, especially when it is for the betterment of your partner and their health.

Now, don’t get us wrong. The idea here is not to promote a body type that is flattering to a man, but one that is healthy. And if you see your partner straying from keeping fit and putting on a few, this is how you can soften the blow of telling them:

    1) Don’t Spin In Circles

Instead of beating around the bush and trying to lay the groundwork for this very heavy conversation, which mind you is not as concealed as you may like to think, it is better to just come to the point directly and without making your partner feel like they weren’t strong enough to handle what is coming.

Relationships are stronger than we know, and can easily stand to face a few difficult truths, provided, told gracefully.
    2) Be Mindful Of The Words You Use

The tricky part here is to not let your partner know that you’re concerned about their weight, but how you do it. Using words like ‘fat, or phrases where you end up comparing them to others is as good as shooting yourself in the foot.

Instead, try to be considerate of your partner’s feelings and convey your concern with a more subtle touch. Rather than saying, ‘you look fat’, mention how you feel they could work at being more healthier.
    3) Be Supportive

It is of paramount importance that once you drop the bomb on your partner, you ensure that they know you’re here to support and not just to criticise.

It is hard for anyone to accept they may have lost the ball on keeping fit, even more so in front of their partners.
Which is why it becomes your job to be encouraging while they process the information so as to not invoke an inferiority complex.
    4) Make Your Intention Clear

While taking this conversation on is in itself like climbing up a slippery slope, what makes it worse is when you fail to convey your intent for bringing the topic up in the first place.

Make sure to let your partner know that what you’re saying does not mean they are less attractive to you, but that they’re just less healthy. As long as you let them know it has more to do with health and less to do with vanity, chances are they might take it better.
    5) Let Them Know You Still Love Them

When our partners become the ones pointing out our flaws, it becomes extremely difficult to remember that despite their constructive criticism, they still love us.

Especially after touching down upon a topic as sensitive as weight, partners are bound to feel a little less fancied. Hence, make it a point to let your partner know just how much you still love them and that nothing in the world would change that.
