    Things started beautifully, you two were getting along just fine, the chemistry was undeniable, the urge to be in constant contact was flattering and the sparks were flying all over the place. It was a lovers paradise for as long as you remember, until recently when things started to feel a little rocky.

    Constant fights, bickering, never-ending arguments and a lot of door-slamming anger is what your relationship is suddenly all about.     Jeff Bezos will be ending his reign as Amazon CEO today and will be stepping down as the world’s richest person in the process. Bezos will be resigning from the role at the age of 57, taking an estimated personal wealth of $197 billion according to Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index. He will be replaced by Andy Jassy, current CEO of Amazon Web Services, the company’s cloud platform.
    "We chose that date because it has sentimental value to me," the 57-year-old tycoon said during a meeting with Amazon shareholders on Wednesday. It turns out that July 5, 1994, was when he founded Amazon Inc. in Seattle.
    "This journey began some 27 years ago. Amazon was only an idea, and it had no name. The question I was asked most frequently at that time was, 'What’s the internet?' Blessedly, I haven’t had to explain that in a long while,” Bezos said when announcing his retirement 4 months ago.

    His personal wealth largely consists of a large amount of Amazon holdings and other assets. He received a salary of $81,840 and $1.6 million in other forms of compensation from Amazon last year. To put things into perspective, Bezos’ wealth is 739,489 times the median net worth of an American at the age of 65, the average retirement age in the country. It is worth pointing out that Bezos saw a significant gain in his personal wealth over the past year during the pandemic. His net worth grew by $75 billion in 2020 alone.

    While Bezos will be retiring from the role of CEO at Amazon, he will assume the mantle of executive chairman of the company’s board.     ”As Exec Chair I will stay engaged in important Amazon initiatives but also have the time and energy I need to focus on the Day 1 Fund, the Bezos Earth Fund, Blue Origin, The Washington Post, and my other passions. First, there was Paltan, where he played the role of a soldier stationed in Nathula. Then there was Taish, where he plays the role of a mob leader in London. And now, there’s Haseen Dillruba, in which, his performance is earning him a lot of praise.

    Things have not always been easy for Harshvardhan. He might be one of India’s most bankable actors now, but there was a time when he used to work as a carpenter and a delivery boy. Perhaps that is why he has a philanthropic side that only his ardent fans are aware of.

    We spoke to Harshvardhan about his philanthropic endeavours, the characters that he plays and of course, his latest movie, Haseen Dillruba. Following are the edited excerpts from the interview.

    The characters that you play always tend to have a very clear trajectory. They start with a rough and gruff exterior, and then audiences see a softer interior. Is this always deliberate? 
    People normally don’t notice this. Audience tends to have a very limited perception, especially if they have seen the trailer. As an actor, it is your job to change that perception to shift it from what they think it is. For me as an actor, that shift is where the fun lies.

    Moreover, each character should be like a surprise, like gift packages. There’s an exterior and then there’s something beautiful and magical inside. I believe all human beings are like that, layered. Because that’s what nature and time do to you. The soft and delicate interior of a human being, that is the soul, has to be protected by something harder.

    Nature designs you like that. Your soul is soft and needs to be protected, so you cannot expose the same soul everywhere. This is where the hard exteriors come into play, you have a different exterior for different situations and different people. All those layers are a part of who we are. The same goes for the layers of my characters.

    You have a very unique and different take on philanthropy. Tell us something about ShirtOff Foundation.
    The clothes, especially the T-shirts that I wear in a film, is auctioned off in a garage sale, to raise funds for the education of a young girl who lost both her parents at a very young age. The campaign lets me connect to my fans, get closer to them, and help me with a habit that I have. I cannot tolerate seeing things idle, without any use. I have always loved converting things into something useful, especially if they can be of some help to someone.

    Is this why you sold off your Royal Enfield? I mean, you love riding and are very keen on adventure sports and travelling.

    You can say that. When the pandemic was at its peak I had a bike that was just standing in my garage. I had no use of it at all. Even without the news or social media, one could see people suffering all around them. People were struggling to pay for oxygen something that we have all been taking for granted for years. We all grow with the notion that no matter how bad things get we will at least be able to breathe free. And here we were, in a situation where even that was not possible for a lot of people.
    I was feeling guilty that my bike I was just standing there in my garage. I come from a very humble family. I have already worked with my hands even when I was a carpenter. We never had this notion of just writing out big cheques. I thought it would be better for me to sell off my bike.

    Was it hard, selling off your bike?

    The bike had become a part of my family. Men have this connection with certain machines, it can be their bikes, cars or anything. It was irreplaceable. But, the experience of selling it also taught me something. The person who bought it paid for the bike in advance but did not take possession of it, because of the pandemic. Even in times of despair, people trust each other, and that should be respected.

    You have worked extensively in both the Hindi film industry and the Telugu film industry. Are there any differences in approaches to filmmaking between the two industries?

    The one difference that clearly stands out is that the Telugu film industry is very strict in terms of schedules. Shifts are followed very religiously there. The working culture of the Hindi film industry is much more relaxed and is flexible. 
    I cannot say which is better out of the two, but there are good things and bad things about each of them.

    Let’s talk about Taish and your performance. It was a masterfully made series, people who saw it were in awe of your performance and the show. What was it like, making the series?

    All the credit for Taish, whether you talk about the story, the cinematography, even the actor's performances, it goes to Bejoy Nambiar. Without him, the web series wouldn't have been half as good.
    He has this very unique quality of making even bad actors look good, and that's what he did with me.
    It was supposed to be a film, right? And then, was made into a web series?
    Yes, it was.

    Is that the reason why Taish wasn’t marketed aggressively? There were very few campaigns and media interactions prior to the release of the series.

    I personally believe that in today's day and age, it is not possible for anyone to market anything. Marketing as an activity has become an impossible task. There is so much clutter and so much noise, that no matter how good your voice is, it will drown out.
    Marketing a film has become very formulaic and algorithm-driven, especially on OTT platforms. Things were still a little easier when theatres were operational. You need to look at the demographics on the platform and make a strategy, and then, you need to look at the demographics on another platform and come up with a different strategy. Audiences have a lot of choices and that makes things difficult.
    It's like ordering food online now. Not only are there a number of restaurants and cuisines to choose from, but there are also a number of platforms to go for. Again, this is my personal opinion, and I could be wrong.
    I have accepted the fact that only a handful of people will watch my films if I am lucky, and as long as they are content with what I put out, as long as I can make them happy, I don't need to lose heart.

    You were born in Andhra Pradesh, brought up in Gwalior, and had a Marathi father and a Telugu mother. And yet, your Punjabi accent and dialect in Taish were actually better than most Punjabi actors. How did you pull that off?

    Language isn't my strong suit, it isn't my forte. I started picking up Punjabi when I was working in JP Datta's Paltan. I spoke to a lot of soldiers and picked up a part of the language, slowly.
    Then, for Taish, Bejoy and I went to London, and before principal photography began, I actually met a lot of the local Punjabi families in Southall. They have a very unique way of speaking the language, and not just in terms of an accent, although that too is somewhat different. Bejoy asked me to learn this very carefully. Actors are lazy, so when we don't understand something, we copy. So I started mimicking. 
    I also have to thank Gunjit Chopra the writer. He wrote most of the dialogues, and he was always on the set and was also present while we were dubbing. He really helped me get comfortable with the language and the dialect.

    Let’s talk about Haseen Dillruba. How did you come to sign the film?

    It certainly had to be Kanika Dhillon's narration and the story. I enjoy whodunnits in general. I was completely blown away by the twist at the end and had decided that this was a film that I was going to do. I like to think that I match my audience's IQ. I hope the audience was just as taken aback by the ending as I was.

    Your character in the film is somewhat of an adventure junkie, just like you in real life. What can you say about your character?

    Just like my character, I too am a huge fan of adventure sports, particularly river rafting. There was a time when I would just look for reasons to get out of Mumbai. I remember travelling all the way from Mumbai to Rishikesh in a sleeper bogey on numerous occasions. I had made a lot of friends in Rishikesh, and they would often give me free rafting sessions, so yeah, my character in Haseen Dillruba is an ode to the river rafters of Rishikesh.

    Saif Ali Khan is known for experimenting with his characters and with every new role that he picks up, he shows how versatile he is. From Tandav to Sacred Games, Saif’s career graph has only gone upward and people have loved his performances. He has become the king of OTT and he is all set to return to the OTT screen with a horror-comedy titled Bhoot Police.
    Kareena Kapoor Khan took to social media to drop his first look from the film. She revealed that Saif's character is named Vibhooti and captioned it, “Don't fear the paranormal and feel 'Saif' with VIBHOOTI. #BhootPolice Coming soon on @disneyplushotstarvip."

    Coming back to the film, Bhoot Police is directed by Pavan Kirpalani, who has earlier directed films like Ragini MMS, Darr @The Mall, and Phobia. The shooting of the film began in Himachal Pradesh in the first week of November 2020.
    For the next schedule, the actors flew down to Jaisalmer. The makers have been tight-lipped about the plot of the film. Bhoot Police marks Saif Ali Khan’s first collaboration with Arjun Kapoor and Yami Gautam. The film also stars Jacqueline Fernandes in a pivotal role.
    Talking about the release of Bhoot Police, Ramesh Taurani told ETimes, “Look, I was supposed to release Bhoot Police in September 2021. I felt that it would be better in the present scenario if I stick to my original month. So yes, Bhoot Police will be released on OTT mostly in September or October.”
    “I am thrilled to have Saif and Arjun come together for this entertaining feature. Both of them will be seen bringing their trademark fun elements to the brand new avatars they will portray in this film,” Kirpalani said in a statement.
    We hope the film doesn’t disappoint the fans because horror comedies can be tricky.

    Actor Zayed Khan took to Instagram on his 41st birthday eve and shared a glimpse of his body transformation that left fans shocked. In the picture, he looks extremely bulked up and can be seen in the gym after his workout session.

    Marriages are clearly a really big thing in India and so is all the talk around it. It's considered a 'pavitra rishta', an 'atoot bandhan' and 'saat janmo ka saath' (a companionship for all seven lives).

    However, the bigger the importance of a certain thing, the bigger are the controversies around it. And, well, while bizarre things happen all across the world, they sure do happen quite often in India, especially when it comes to marriages.

    There are people marrying a dead bride's sister on the wedding day, the groom walking away from a marriage because no mutton curry was served at the reception and the list goes on and on.
    In what is the latest addition to the list is the shocking instance of a man who probably would surely be scarred for life.

    In Uttar Pradesh, a 22-year-old man came to discover that his estranged wife was actually secretly married to his 48-year-old father.

    Well, what is probably even strange is that he found out all of this through an RTI (Right to Information Act) that he had filed.
    What had earlier happened was that the man and his wife had tied the knot when they were both minors back in 2016. But, despite having a two-year-old child, domestic disputes resulted in them separating from each other.
    However, it was when he went to reconcile with his wife and she insisted on a divorce, he got suspicious and filed an RTI.
    What shocked him completely was that not only was his wife married to his father, but she was actually in love with him as well, with the couple living together in Sambhal town of the state.
    As per reports, an investigation is underway, with the police stating that it is the case of 'matrimonial discord'.
    It is also reported that since the two were married as minors, there are no legal documents to support the first marriage along with the fact that the woman is happily married to the man's father.

    Ever since we were hit by the pandemic in 2020, everything came to standstill. The entertainment sector moved to OTT platforms to keep us hooked as movie theatres were shut down. 

    Some movies were promising, while a few others turned out to be a disaster. Having said that Fast and Furious 9 or F9 was one of the recent movies to be released globally.

    The film's plot witnessed Dominic Toretto and his members get back to fight his brother and find the Aries device. Even though the movie is teeming with over-the-top action scenes, turns out, that F9 managed to overcome everything at the box office. 

    The ninth movie of the franchise has now crossed the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office, as per Box Office Mojo.

    It's said that it's the first movie after the pandemic to reach such heights. So far, the film has gained  $500.30 million globally whereas it has grossed $125.90 million in the US.

    The movie might face a challenge as Marvel Studios Black Widow release date is also due. The movie is all set to make its mark on July 9th in several countries. It's estimated that the movie's opening would be around $90 million. This will then cross F9's record. 

    Fast and Furious 9 is helmed by Lin, who made a comeback in the franchise after a long time. The script has been penned with Daniel Casey and Alfredo Botello.

    The movie has a star-studded cast including Vin Diesel, Charlize Theron, Michael Rooker, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang and Kurt Russell.

    Kapil Dev speaks up about the rumours of the possibility of Rahul Dravid replacing Ravi Shastri as the main and only head coach of the Indian cricket team later in the year. The 1983 World Cup-winning skipper does his best to remain politically correct and neutral toward both sides. 
    At the moment, there are two strings of the Indian cricket team and both of them are touring different countries. The A-string is currently in England and after losing the World Test Championship final against New Zealand, are looking forward to a five-match Test series against Joe Root and Co. - this side is being coached by Ravi Shastri.’

If the youngsters get the opportunity, there’s nothing wrong with it. But if it is up to the team management to decide whether they should apply such pressure on two teams simultaneously," Kapil pointed out about the usual habits of the Indian cricket community of putting too much pressure on the squad.
